What the heck man... what is that fiber optic cable? They have been promising those kind of DL speeds in the Chicagoland area for years. YOU SUCK!

Chattanooga, TN has up to 1 Gbps but most of the rest of the country is max 50 Mbps (Charter here). My Uverse is only 24 Mbps max and there is fiber outside.

They dumb us down.

170mbps here in Largo, FL (Tampa Bay).

Really? I used the stats off of OOkla (Speedtest) but that is actual throughput. It seems within certain cities they have gone a lot faster. What do you get?

I looked at the performance logs, it looks like the host was getting DDOSed around the times of the slowness. Weird.
Reply again to this thread if it gets slow again, I'll go yell at the hosting company if it doesn't improve.

Wolf39, why are you moving from Tsmpa Bay back into the cold Northeast? We have been considering moving to Florida.

For many reasons actually.
Florida is too hot for one. It may seem that 80F is comfortable on paper... but when you add in humidity and dew point and realize that Florida is almost always wet, I find that 80F there is uncomfortable where as 80F here is very comfortable. If I can't deal with 80F in FL, then I can't deal with FL because it gets WAY hotter and most of the year too!
Wages are another problem for me. Florida wages are significantly lower. Things balance a little because of lower cost of living, but I don't believe it balances out enough to justify it.
I missed the crap out of my friends and family and really didn't do well creating a new social group in FL. That's not Florida's fault, but it was a factor.
The flat roads are dull... and Florida to me just looks to be a concrete jungle with nothing but some palm trees strategically placed along the road. They look good for awhile, but they start to look unnatural after awhile when you compare to the insane amount of woods you find in the north!
Of course I'm only speaking about the area that I live in and the areas that I've been to in FL
