Tire Question

Hi All,
I know nothing about this so I figured I would ask. How does one go about having new tires put on? Do I purchase the tyres separately then ask my dealer to put them on? Does this cost more than a service? Less? Popping them on myself isn't an option, I wouldn't know where to start nor do I have the tools for the job. Does anyone have a recommendation for tires? Is staying on the stock tires fine? I've just heard a few people say they're really bad, but I have no experience with tires (bike/scoot or car tires) and wouldn't know whether they're any good or not.

Stay on original tyres until they are worn out. Don't know what is available down under, but you will have plenty of time to find out.

If you have competitive motorcycle shops around you could get best mounting price and then order new tires on line. Probably it would just be best for a one stop deal ie dealer purchase and have them mounted all at once.

I don't know how the pricing there compares to where I live, but here the tires at the dealer cost almost twice what they are online.
This is what I have done on my bikes:
Keep the original tires on the bike until they wear out or until the bike seems to be slipping in the front or rear, which is usually a good sign that their grooves have worn down to the point where it would be wise to replace them.
(The back tire usually wears out at a rate close to half of the wear of the front tire. )
Go online and look up replacement tires in the suggested tire size you will need. If you are lucky you will be able to locate some Michelin City Grip tire in the size you need.
(If you Google 'Michelin City Grip scooter tires' you can see who sells them. You might get lucky and find some in Australia.)
Calculate the lowest shipping cost it can be shipped at...do not wait until your tires absolutely must be replaced before doing this. Sometimes shipping is slow.

Once you tire comes in, call the various scooter and motorcycle shop in your area and ask about costs to mount a new tire on your scooter if you provide the tire. I have found pricing all over the map for this...anywhere from $20 to $60 per tire.
Strap the new tire onto the bike OR your back, and head to the shop with the lowest quote.
