I see a lot of people have posted on the topic with not much in the way of resolution. Has anyone solved this problem? Is it just glazing of the belt and pads? I can not accelerate fast now until the juddering goes away, if I get on it hard it just keeps doing it, have to ease the throttle in. Does it call for replacement of the belt? I have two PCX 150s one with only 2K miles and one with 5K they are both doing it. Would a non Honda brand belt be better? Love to solve this annoying issue any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi. Mine did this all the time some months after owning it, but now I gave it a few days heavier starting it's mostly gone away. It will come back or do it again if I am in start-stop traffic as you cannot go too heavy then. Seems to be a fundamental problem with the PCX scoot.

Two people have posted that some sliders(?) or such solved the problem and their PCX is silky smooth, and a day or so ago someone else posted a new Vario or such achieved the same result (smooth rather than shudder). Perhaps either of them will read this and comment or someone else will know the facts.

I think the consensus on this one is just to give your scooter a good thrash and see what happens

Mine has never done that. Or, my expectation of what is normal for a centrifugal clutch is more generous. It seems odd that both your PCX's would be doing something abnormal.

Thanks so far, this is bad and definitely abnormal. Can not get on it or start fast because it is chugging to much, like it is going to stall, I ease up, let it catch then it goes fine and normal. I beat on it like many people suggested when it was only doing it a little that was no help. It is a sporadic problem. Worse on the one with higher miles. I do not ride it gingerly. I bought the one with lower miles at 2k and it was already doing it.

Interesting. We have 2 pcx 150's and neither has this problem. The oldest one of ours has around 12k miles with no problem with acceleration. Mine only has around 3k miles. It never had any problems, but i recently changed the rollers to 13gm and it is now really great. When I give it gas, it doesn't hesitate. It just goes, quickly. In fact, we went for an 85 mile ride today, part of which was on the freeway and both bikes performed admirably, hitting 65 mph without hesitating.

How fresh is the fuel you're using?

Not that bad, not like that at all. The first little bit upon acceleration almost every time. Gets old.

Any mods in the drive train?

Fuel is good and only use Rec 90. 90% of time at least. No mods to the drive train. About to let the mechanic look at it, but it seems putting a new Honda belt in after 2k would not seem to fix the real cause of this problem.

It seems that part of the time you are describing a running condition of the engine, and sometimes sounds more like a near normal belt or clutch shudder. Let's see what the technician thinks about it.

Normal? That would infer that the scooter not going forward when accelerated is acceptable, which it is not. Something is up. The one with the high miles ran perfect for about the 3k took it to the Honda dealer when the issue started, they briefly checked it out and said it was normal, they never wrote up a ticket on it so when it started doing it worse they said it was on me. There are no recalls or bulletins on this issue, although it seems I am hardly alone. Thanks for the input.

I think there was one other person with a similar issue. Very, very odd that you are 0 for 2.

For me the clutch shudders when I am stop/start in traffic a LOT, and it's gentle move...roll..stop type traffic. Otherwise it's not a problem, once it begins to shudder I just leave a longer space infront and give it more throttle, easily averted.

Never had it to be honest. Change the belt?

Its the clutch shoes.
Gentle acceleration causes the clutch to slip glazing the shoes which causes the judder.

Here's a very informative post from a professional on the topic of deglazing clutch shoes, its for the Burgman 400, but the principle is exactly the same for any CVT scooter's centrifugal dry clutch.
