Hey guys (girls too),
Thinking about getting a PCX150 and there are several leftover models at dealers with 0 miles on them. What should I figure for model year depreciation when looking at, let's say, a 2013? I know what he wants, just wanna know what's fair.
Thanks.
John

I haven't seen a used PCX, regardless of condition, go for more than $2500, around here. Location varies a lot, but resale is basically a huge drop after purchase, then somewhere between $2500 and $1500 depending on mileage and condition, unless it's broken or damaged (in which case I've seen as low as $1000 for a running PCX).

Welcome to the forums, John! :D

Even though there's depreciation on used motorcycles, you likely won't score a new, leftover bike at the fully depreciated price. Although you'll still take a depreciation hit as soon as you leave the lot with the new, leftover '13, it won't be as much as that for a current year, and you'll avoid the uncertainties associated with buying a used one, plus you'll get a full warranty.

Pricing varies by market, dealer incentives, and how anxious a particular dealer is to move the leftover stock. Choose a price between the original list price and the depreciated price for same-year vehicles and make an offer. If they let you leave the showroom without making a deal, the offer was too low. Some folks get hung up on the last $100 or so in negotiating a deal and end up not buying. I don't--it's small change in the end.
