Life Expectancy

I am thinking about getting a new Honda pcx 150 black! This would be my first scooter and I would use it to drive into work. I am driving 35 miles round trip in city 45 mph driving. How many miles should the engine last me if I take great care of the scooter? 40,000 miles over the life of it asking to much?
Thanks guys!

So long as you follow the maintenance schedule and don't modify anything, 40000 miles sounds reasonable.

If it isn't crashed or abused it'll outlast you

Indefinitely.
If you use fully synthetic oil it simply will not wear out.
At all.
Ever.

Hmmmm... In the real world engines don't last for an infinite amount of time, modern engines will mostly last about 200k to 300k miles if serviced correctly. The rest of the vehicle probably wont fare so well.

I know that it is a Honda, which says a lot for it. I know that they make great engines that last and last. I know of friends who have at least 200k miles on their old Honda Accords. So, with all of that going for it, I would think these engines should have no problem going 200k miles. I know that when I had my Burgman scooter there were riders who had 150k miles on theirs, so why wouldn't a Honda engine do the same?

Going in next week to a Honda dealer and keeping my options open. Definitely leaning towards a 2015 pcx. I like the black color :)

Thanks Mel46, that gives me a good feeling since in 10 months I have put 17,000Km on my machine. I am or was worried that I may wear it out within a few years if I keep up the pace. I am meticulous about maintenace, but still thats a lot of KM's on a single piston.

If you're going to do the KMs anyway, you'll be wearing out some vehicle or another. You may as well wear out something that's cheap and reliable.

And fun!

Did the math when I bought it and I figured at 50,000km, it has paid for itself in fuel savings over driving my van. Without considering the added maintenance costs of the van vs the bike.

Did I mention.. Fun? :)
