for the love of scooters...

things I need to work on
1. leaving my turn signal on
2. forgetting to lash my helmet
3. smearing bugs on my visor and jacket
4. avoiding the step through and then NOT committing to a full hike over the tail
5. dismount whilst engine is running (thus pulling the throttle just enough to crap myself)
6. purchasing more than I can get in the luggage box
4. seeing gravel in a turn and wondering which lever is the rear brake... again
5. ?

1: just don't use them or if that fails take the bulbs out
2: leave it at home
3: leave the jacket beside the helmet
4: vault on from behind
5: side stand down before you get off
6: couple of these, link the handles together and hey presto, instant panniers.

4: (again?) don't reach for the brake, just shut your eyes
(variation on the Hitchiker's Guide sunglasses idea)

The Dr. Phil Show has agreed to have us appear on a special "scooter" edition. I left my turn signal on twice yesterday. I was 2 miles from home and wondering why something was flapping when i realized that i had not lashed my helmet under my chin.

OH! here is one more potential off
Other (clutch) bikers admiring your idling scooter will reach for the throttle to hear the muffler. Slap they hand like the little bitches they are.

I like where this thread is going! Warming up on laughing before tomorrow's Booming holiday!
Last minute notice! Dr. Phil ya say? What time must we be there yak? We'll never get a word in scoot wise

He really knows how to Flap his Gums!
I have changed my ways. I swing a leg over now. My back is okay with it. No more stepping through. Oh, and I latch my chin strap each time (no "D" on my Nolan)
Confessing. ..
I sometimes sit wondering why my scoot won't start

haha! Yeah yeah...the side stands down! ye fool! Been there a few times. But wait! I'm good with the wink-e-dinks

So here are some of the things I have learned.
First of all, some of the pcx peeps have bought turn signal buzzers which should annoy the hell out of you if you leave the turn signal on.
Second, I have several helmets, one of which has a quick connect for the helmet. Though I don't like the other connection types, I have made it a habit to connect the straps before I put the visor down.
Next. I have a plastic spray on cleaner and polish from Novus (#1 as apposed to the other 2 they offer, which I also have for scratches). It is great for adding a coating to the windshield and your visor, so bugs slide off easier after a ride with a little water.
As for the rest of the problems, use the side stand and your engine will be killed right away. Put the bike on its center stand if other bikers want to hear the engine roar. There is quite a bit of room under the seat on these scooters, so don't write off storage there if you bought too much.

The other other day I thought I left the key on after I put the center-stand down (again) and killed the battery, again (#5 answer,,,,not fool proof, and the shoe may fit). So,,,, I pulled the battery cover, connected the portable booster, and Voila! Oh crap crank crank crank, and no start and go. Damn, Scooter is dead! How is that possible? Put the cover back on, sat on the seat that I had just Humpectomized, scratched my head and tried to remember where the tie downs are so I can load it in the pickup and haul it in. Whilst looking for a good place on cramped bar to hook the tie downs noticed that very important red rocker switch near the throttle. That one that the edge of the seat lines right up to if you have moved your controls in on the bar. Ooops. Of course, that's the second time I've done it. The shoe definitely fits.

At the risk of taking things too seriously,

here's a link to a good, cheap fix for this problem:
