Rear Left Turn Signal

Ok. :ugeek: The housing "neck" broke off at some point, so that what I have left is a dangling participle of a turn light. The light housing itself is intact. The wires show no sign of breach.

A couple months ago it was still functioning if I duct taped it back in place and like an old set of headphones, moved the wires around a bit. Actually stayed in place at highway speeds, no light issues.

Soon as the temperature changed to cold here in Autumn, left rear flasher light no longer works.

So, I opened up the housing and inspected the light. Little bit of crust in there. Tried to remove the light but it won't budge.

Searched for answers and found no topics on it.

1) How do I remove the actual bulb. Do I just don a pair of grippy gloves and give it a yank?

2) Based on my description above, other than the bulb, what could it be that is causing the light not to function?

3) The right side is fine. The left indicator on my dash comes on solid but no flash. Left rear light itself does not come on.

What year is your bike? I am guessing from your description that it is a pre 2015, with a post that has the turn signals sticking out both in the front and in the back. There is a screw that is on the backside of each of the signals,(Phillips head), that you can unscrew which will allow the yellow cover to then pop off. You should be able to change the bulb then, That entire assembly is not hard to replace but it will cost about $75, which is ridiculous. The service manual will tell you how to replace the unit itself. Your wires may have rubbed raw by now, which would cause a short and blow the bulb. The unit is a plug in unit that is held on by a single bolt under the fender. The wires then trace up into the tail light area and over to the right side, rear, of the bike. I hope this helps.

Here is the best price I have seen for it.

Absolutely -thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll go trace to the plug-in and see if I can spot anything.

Any idea the best way to pop that bulb out? Trying to do it without breaking the glass seems impossible. My fingers barely fit in there....
