I've just ordered a brake light for my Shad topbox bracket. When I wired in a Givi topbox brake light on my last motorbike I made up a wiring harness with a plug at each end which I just plugged in between the rear light cluster and the loom. This meant that I wouldn't be cutting into the bike's loom and could take it back out without there being any damage.

I'd like to do this in my Forza. Can someone tell me what type of plug is used on the loom to connect to the rear light? I'll obviously need a male and female of this. And if anyone knows the wire colours for the brake light that would be even better.

I think the wiring harness is done as an all-one-piece. I don't think there are plugs to disconnect the tail light section from the rest.


No... Wait... I was wrong.

There is a 6P connector that joins the rear combo light to the rest of the harness.

Wired it all up this morning. I built a short harness with a 6P connector plug and socket, and connected it between the main harness and the lighting end. I tapped into the mini-harness with a couple of posi-tap connectors to the new brake light. I do it like this because I can take it off leaving no permanent intrusion or damage to the bike's wiring.

The Shad brake light screws to the bottom of the topbox plate, so it's in place even when the topbox isn't (unlike Givi aux. lights). The wire then just fed through a seam above the rear light cluster into the rear of the scoot. From the underseat area you just remove the toolbox carrier and the wiring all goes on behind this. Very simple and neat job.

It's the one that connects the bike's harness to the rear light.
