So I believe that the PCX has Hondas linked braking. I am used to smaller bikes with a rear brake foot pedal. How does the linked braking work? The PCX has two brake levers so which does the front and which the rear and which is linked?

So am I right in supposing that one lever operates only the rear brake whilst the other will do both?

No, its the other way round.
Left lever operates rear drum brake and centre piston of the front brake caliper.
Right brake lever operates the outer two pistons of the front caliper.

I recommend reading this article on Honda's website if you haven't already - it does a pretty good job explaining the CBS on the PCX:

If I recall correctly, the left lever combi brake system (CBS - linked) applies 80% to the rear brake and 20% to the front brake.
