down the day before my birthday

Went to take a right turn, was braking before the turn, apparently hit some gravel and locked the front brake. Broke my collarbone, have some bruised ribs. Spending the night in the hospital. Happy birthday to me... :(

My head hit the ground at least three times. My helmet saved my life.

Wow, glad you were wearing gear. That could have been bad.

I hope they can keep you comfortable tonight.

Hope you still manage a happy birthday, you'll laugh about it some day soon. Probably when the pain wears off.

Happy birthday. Hope you heal quickly.
My helmet saved my life.
If it's not usable any more, keep it for good luck!

2. Happy birthday!
3. Get well soon!
4. Thank goodness you were wearing a helmet!
5. Is Rowlf okay?
6. You're all banged up and on pain meds and you're still posting here? :o

Happy Birthday in the hospital! I have been there for a different reason. Even had my laptop. It reminds me here that over in Illinois just across the river so many ride their Harleys w/o a helmet. I guess it saves on the hospital stay and helmet costs.

Glad you're not too badly injured, thanks to your helmet.

Any news on the bike itself?

Lancaster county, I think there are a bunch of scooter riders in that area. Hope some come by to visit your good self !

Good on you for wearing the hemet -
'injured - reserve' ,myself, for a few weeks; but for the pain it ain't too bad ;-)
Collar bones can be pretty uncomfortable - sorry.

Might have been one ABS could have saved . And....the old right turn mishap - wonder why
'rights' are so often problematic?
Happy Birthday and condolences from over in central Ohio.

I had a close encounter with PA gravel near New Hope, back when I was a newbie.
I hope they didn't need to dig much of it out of you and that you're already feeling better.

Glad you are reasonably OK! Things will take a while -I don't know about collarbones, but ribs ache for quite a while.

Real happy also to not hear about any road rash. What else did you have on for gear, and what kind of helmet were you wearing? It is hard to believe that people will ride without head protection - if you go down, the squash will be taking a hit somewhere along the line.

So what are you going to get for a new helmet?
