PCX 125 standard rpm

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what a standard pcx 125's rpm is when it is pulling (new rollers and belt) and also what is the optimum rpm for the 125 (any graphs would be great!)?

Also what is the difference between an aftermarket variator with the same diameter pulling at say 8k rpm vs the standard variator pulling at the same rpm? Just wondering if aftermarket variators are smoke and mirrors purely because they increase the rpm range to match the optimum BHP, which could be instead achieved with a correct setup of rollers.

Does the optimum RPM change when adding an aftermarket exhaust?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance!

Optimum is a bit like asking how long a piece of string is. Optimum for what? Some aftermarket varitors are sold using smoke and mirriors, others are not. You can get acceleration gains by installing lighter weights as it changes the rpm at which the road speed catches up with the variator, so you effectively stay in lower gears longer.
The diameter of the variator is only one element and is in part dictated by the space in the engine casing and the length of the belt. Even if one fits a very slightly larger pulley there is no guarantee the belt will actually travel any further out. Other dimensions of the variator also affect this not just the diameter.
Can you get extra speed by installing an aftermarket variator? Yes,
Can you get a lower cruising RPM by fitting one? Yes
Can you get better fuel economy? Yes, a little. Providing you don’t use the extra performance.
Others will be along soon to explain why their method of achieving what they wanted is the best.

Have sent you a PM.
