Buying guidance
Hi all, looking to purchase a second hand pcx125.maybe 2012/13 with 5k miles or something like that . what do I need to look out for ? Any significant changes in the model years ? Any advice / guidance greatly appreciated .
Re: Buying guidance
Hi and welcome
Don't buy a pre eSP engined model.
The original PCX had very weak centrestand mounts and if the stand pivot gets seized up or if the stand gets thumped the mounts break and can rip a hole in the crankcase leading to oil loss and catastrophic engine failure.
Look for an airbox with "eSP" on it.
Don't buy anything which has been subject to "performance" modifications, get one which is 100% standard.

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Wrap that up ^^ and put a bow on it! Gn2 covered it all. Seriously, heed his advice.

If you could list your location (country is good), it can help us help you.
I would affirm the first part of what GN2 wrote and the second part of what Whitenoise wrote.

Re: Buying guidance
What GN2 and white noise have said is good advice. One thing to note, if you're looking at a scoot with a few miles on the clock, especially one that is a few years old, pay attention for such things as crash damage, tire wear, condition of hoses, maintenance records, etc. checking CVT belt and cone surface condition would be a good idea as well.
