Hi everyone, I'm Marco and I live in Italy ( Milan ).

I have an Honda PCX 150 and I should go working 30miles far from my home..

What do you think about using the PCX in this way? It will be about 60 miles/day and 300 miles/week.

I will drive about at 60 mph for all the trip.

Would you use a PCX or would you choose a bigger scooter? thank you and sorry for my english

Hi Marco and welcome
At 60 miles a day you'll be needing to service a PCX every eight weeks.
That's before you even consider how small cramped and underpowered it is for longer trips.
I've done a similar daily distance on a PCX and it was no fun at all.
The PCX is ideal for lazy leisure time meanderings down quiet country roads and for the cut and thrust of the city.
For a thirty mile trip to work treat yourself to something with a bigger engine.

services are not a problem for me ( I'm a mechanical engineer and I work on engines since 2005 ): I will do them by myself !

Instead of the pcx I should use my car or my motorbike ( Triumph 675 ) spending much more in gasoline ( in Italy is very expensive) and services

what do you think about the reliability of the pcx?

The PCX 150 should be fine for reliability.
The biggest problem with the PCX was weak crankcase stand mounts on the original 125 model.
ESP engined versions like the 150 do not have this problem.
Be aware though that the PCX is not a fast scooter, a decent 125 like the Xmax or Forza has more power than the PCX 150.

You're English is just fine! Welcome to our forums Marco and congrats on owning a PCX!

Personally, I would never choose the 150 PCX to ride steadily at 60mph for any longer than a few minutes (or none at all) on any major speedway/highway. The PCX is so lightweight that you will get blown around not only by winds, but by vehicles (large and small) passing you. That's a bit intimidating and scary to say the least. I can't see any of that as being "pleasurable."

Saving on fuel? Excellent choice. Maneuverable? Most certainly. Agile? Absolutely. Fun around town bike? Double Yes! Enjoy it. No need to Beat it or You up. There are bigger bikes out there that will meet your requirements going to and from your destination.

Most importantly, always think Safety first please. The PCX is not a proper canidate for your planned daily venture.
This is my concern and my very serious opinion.

P.S. Please just have fun, and enjoy your PCX as She was......."Born This Way"

Another thought which occurs to me is trade your Triumph 675 for a Honda NC750S and forget about the PCX...?

Bigger scooter needed if it was me....

Will this journey be across Milan or do you live in the suburbs and will journey outwards?

I've commuted 25 miles each way (mostly motorway) on a 110 Forza. It's doable but man it's slow and boring.

Get a 300 Forza.

I used to do my daily commute of 35 miles on a 1968 Honda CT90 (top speed 45mph with a tailwind). I haven't even ridden my new PCX 150 due to the current arctic conditions at my latitude, but I am able to avoid busy high-speed roads on the way to the city. I considered the size bike I would need and went with the smallest machine that seemed to fill the bill, staying with Honda as a long-time loyalist. I was able to pay for the 2015 PCX in full, whereas I would have needed a loan to get a Forza 300. Now I hope I bought enough bike . . . I'm fairly confident the 150 will fit the need. And yes, Marco, your English is better than mine!

My wife and I have taken our two pcx 150s all over the state and enjoyed almost every minute of it. However, we had to change the seats on both to a more comfortable one from Thailand and we put the tall windshield on to protect against the wind. The bikes will do 60 mph, but the others here are right when they say the pcx is light. If you are riding it where there is heavy traffic or a lot of wind, it is a chore to keep the pcx from being blown around. If I were considering riding that distance one way every day, I would consider a heavier bike, like the Suzuki Burgman. Even the new Burgman 200 is heavier and much more suited for what you want to use the scooter for. I had a used Burgman 400 that I loved. It did everything much easier than the pcx....everything except move in and out of city traffic easily. Then it was a bit bulky. So choose your ride based on what you want it for (distance riding or inner city riding), not what you will save in fuel costs. There isn't that much to be saved if you are miserable while riding every single day.

The distance is fine. I run mine at least 80 miles some days. The speed is a problem. Maintaining 60 miles an hour with that little engine and those wheels...that's a lot of wear and tear. Certainly, the PCX will do 60+, but running at that speed for an extended period of time is not really the type of running for which the machine is designed. Something between 250-400cc would be better suited to that kind of traveling and probably more comfortable. A larger engine would also give you more escape speed should you need it.

I live in Chicago and work in Roselle Il, 30.1 miles away ( 60.2 mi round trip ) My pcx handles it just fine but I am never above 55 mph on any route I take. My concern would be running flat out for that distance day after day, lots of wear and tear!

Bike will handle it fine but servicing will add up every 2500 miles if you are capable of changing the oil etc yourself you will be fine I commute on my 125 PCX on a similar sort of mileage

Definitely not a good idea.. The wind is relentless and at speeds above 45 will require more rider diligence and work. Not impossible just might get tiring playing in the wind over 45.Get a tall shield if you are tall. Best suited for pleasure riding or short curvy jaunts .

I ride my PCX150 75 miles round trip to work at 55 mph through all wind and rain. 19,000 miles. Almost due for the second rear tire. The original front can go a little further. Should do the third valve adjustment and maybe the third air filter. Mobil 1 automotive oil changes every 5,000 in the driveway are a piece of cake. Less than 1 quart and no filter. Perfect small bike. If you ever need to run in traffic at 65 mph (60 mph for a PCX125), you need a bigger bike.

Now this is what I was hoping to hear. I wondered about oil type, and since there is no gearbox-type tranny, I assumed that auto oil would be fine. Sendler, do you use Mobil 1 in the gear section as well, or some type of gear oil?

Should use a good brand of 4-stroke fully synth oil weighted for your region (10w30, 10w40, etc) but most oils other than 2-stroke will work.
