Hi All

Passed my test back in 2009 (Full license) and had a Honda CBR125 and Bandit 600 until i sold up.

Now im thinking of getting back on a bike again after 6 years, trying to save some money and for some reason the PCX125 is calling out to me

not sure what it is about it that draws me to it

my local Honda has a 0% finance offer over 3 years with £99 deposit

I lease a car that goes back in 6 months and i have access to my wife's car if and when i need it. so im thinking of getting a bike to replace my car for some money saving. Ive had my thrill seeking days when i had my Bandit 600 so its time to go sensible and get epic mpg.

my commute is 15 miles round trip, I can use a motorway for one junction (0.5 miles) if I want to or go on A roads, either is similar times, currently 40mins in a car with traffic each way.

is there anything i need to know about the PCX125? full LEDs, stop/start, great luggage space, power socket, twist and go, whats not to love about it!

sense would say buy used but prices of used are not far from new plus with new i would get warranty

I've read the service intervals are every 6 months, how much approx would i paying for a service?

in general, build quality and reliability, does it do ok?

is there a similar bike i should also be looking at? ive seen the CBF125 which similar price, guess will have to test ride both.

anyway, any advice much appreciated.

My opinion the bike is super cool looking, and rides fairly nice with an optional seat. I think its best in speeds 45 and under unless you get some windshield that fits your height. The wind factor takes its toll on a long highway ride.Also a little light for the expressway ..lots of nimble fun . The factory seat may be fine..just my preference to upgrade.

If you're buying a new 125, the Yamaha Nmax is arguably a better choice.
ABS, digidash, longer service interval

I would go as far as saying its the best VFM 125 scooter in the UK right now.
If you want something which will get up to 70mph you'll need a Forza 125 or an Xmax 125 and they are around £4000 new.
For the cost of a new PCX 125 you could get a very decent used 300 and that would perhaps be a better bet.

Had my PCX for six months and I love it. Bullet proof reliable, starts on the button and runs like a dream whatever the Scottish weather throws at it. Probably not the fastest 125cc you can buy, but this is more than made up for by the superb handling. I bought a low mileage 2014 model from my local Honda dealer, still under warranty and £500 under the list price of a new one. No regrets about my choice here.

I would be nervous about going on the motorway with my PCX. Apart from that, it's great for all the reasons you outlined. I'm also near Manchester and bought mine on the same deal you'very seen. No regrets. You should definitely consider fitting a taller screen.

I looked on their website when I was buying, ended up at Rochdale honda

A very important thing to remember about Rochdale is that being a cowboy there is not easy.

I bought mine and have it serviced by Rochdale Honda, really good guys and they do not muck about.

I bought from Rochdale Honda as well. I've only had the initial purchase and first service, but they've been great so far. I get a good vibe from them.

If your interested in going the independent route I can recommend Bolton Motorcycle workshop, they have done my last few services, not a massive amount cheaper than Rochdale Honda, but Russ really knows his stuff and you can even watch him work on your bike if you prefer, you get all your old bits back and I prefer them knowing the history of the bike what got done last time etc.
