2015 (LED) vs previous iterations performance decrease

Sorry,
Not a new subject but somewhere buried in some thread is a reference to top speed or performance reduction on newer PCX versions. Alot is this is relevant to the 125 but carries across to 150.

Ok Mike and maybe we start with any belt differences before this conversation goes to the missing tooth on a gear with 2015 and later PCX models. It will help if we could get the part number and width dimension of a new belt off a new bike. By chance is anyone with a new PCX willing to open the cover and get this information off the belt itself because vendors are confused right now and are offering belts that work and fit but might have different widths thus changing the performance. The belt will have it's part number stamped on it and the width will need to be measured with a caliper.

carried over from this thread
http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5717
This being the difference in drive belt specs stated in the latest PCX SM. Here we see two different belt widths and minimal wear tolerances between (LED) PCX's and previous years.
The questions; doesn't this picture indicate a thicker belt for the 2015/16's? Did Honda add life to the belt wear by putting the thicker belt on new models and did this slow our new bikes down? If this is true will the (LED) bikes go faster as the belt wears?
you're up Mikey

Well we don't know exactly what the "new" belt is yet. We know the post '13 belt is 22.6 and that a Click 125 is 21.6 and the original PCX is 21.8 both being 815mm.
My reason for asking the question is that is the performance of the LED is different from previous iteration maybe the belt length has an influence. If the speed is down then maybe putting the longer belt of makes a difference.
I'll wait and see if my contact at Gates comes back with anything! I'll also check the belt # tomorrow at lunchtime.

Thanks and I'm willing to purchase and install the 13 belt on my 15 PCX. I know where my bikes performance levels are (even with the larger tires) and can note any low and high end changes with the earlier model belt. Adding this to my to do list and next video's. WOOT! we love it don't we

Why would you discount the change in final gearing as being the deliberate cause of Honda selecting a lower top speed for the newer models?
.
CVT belts can never wear in a way that increases top speed versus rpm.

I would not discount that as being the reason new PCX's are slower, we are just investigating the lack of part number in the SM and the change in belt size fro 13' to 15' models. But it's good to know a wearing belt cannot increase acceleration or top speed or anything if you say so. Now all we need is the proper belt part number from the most reliable source for (LED) PCX's. Mike will get it and all these sites listing the wrong belt will exit my favorites

after that you all can talk long gearing until the the cows come home but we have many a thread on that!

Not discounting the change in final gearing. I assume that was the topic of the thread I can't find. How much did it change?

Meaning 17/53 to 17/54 primary? Maybe someone can direct me to the thread. Then if the belt is shorter and does allow it to travel to the outer limits of the variator. If you see where my logic is going.
2% is not so much. Requires another 190 rpm! That is all.
