Underseat Light Not Working

Bought a 2011 Honda PCX this week and took delivery of it last night. It looks like there is supposed to be an under seat light but nothing happens when I lift the seat.

Is this a common fault and if so, what tends to break? The fuse, the bulb or the switch?

If it's at the back of the underseat compartment, that's the inspection hatch for the coolant. Mine certainly doesn't have a light under the seat.

No one has a light under the seat but now someone will put a light under the seat 8) Make it a really bright light, like raiders ark, face melt BRIGHT when you open it

Actually, I'm in the process of doing so. I have picked up two 12V LED's (one for PCX and one for Forza) and a quick disconnect that will mate to my battery tender leads. I am trying to decide on a tilt switch or just put in a regular switch. 250-300 lumens, 3 watt. Should be pretty darned bright.

More to follow.

What on earth is the little switch for at the front of the compartment then? It's exactly like the switch on a refrigerator that turns the light on when the door is opened.

It's the cut off for the start stop. If you get off the seat it won't restart if the throttle is opened. I believe later bikes don't have it.

I bridged mine out to disable it as I moved the seat hump back and it didn't start a couple of times as I was sitting further back in the seat.

So - as threatened. I fitted my lights to the Forza storage compartment. It is a good news/bad news deal. The bad is that the 35 grams of extra weight is the straw that totally defeats the rather lame seat support strut. I now need a stick to hold the stupid thing open.

OTOH - I have excellent light from two little AAA batteries. It is a bit hard to tell - I have two light modules - one that you see and one that shines into the lower part of the compartment.

When the PCX comes out for the season, I will see how the 12 V LED I got will work. More to follow.
