Hi Guys
Just bought a 2016 Pcx 150 colour red in Thailand. Its the new model with the Smart key design.Having hired a 2015 model i decided that this was the one for me as having ridden the nextdoor neighbours Yamaha NMAX , the Pcx just felt better and also looked better quality.
Will post some pictures of it too.. Happy bunny at the moment..

Ouuu...a 2016 w/smart key, very cool! Let's see a closeup of that! I wonder if having that feature will be Smart afterall. I guess time will tell (as it usually does).
In the meantime - Bring on yer pics, it's time to Show Off!

First impressions of the smart key system is ,I like it. Just walk up to the bike ,push in and turn control switch and press starter button. To lock just turn control switch to lock position and its locks the steering. Has an alarm also..
Heres a couple of pictures, they do four colours here, matt black, white, blue and red which to me is the same as the forza 300 red..
Just have to downsize pictures

I like red bikes, but here the food delivery bikes are mostly red, so probably will never buy a red bike..
I'm not sure if I like the look of the turn switch. Reminds me of turn switches on some cheap home appliances. But for sure it is going to be more convenient.

How exactly does this smart key ignition operate? Do you have to carry some kind of transmitter around with you?

He left us to ride it more and talk about it less

I suspect it's like a segway key, you just have it in your pocket within proximity. It might have a display and report time, hours of use, battery life... wait not that. Might not be as sophisticated, could just be dumb like a volvo key with nothing more than lock, unlock, alarm. Expensive keys to replace if you wash them in your pant pocket and you can't duplicate at the hardware store. I wish they wouldn't do that.

It is called "over engineering" I believe. The Japanese seem to have caught this nasty (and profitable) disease from their (old) friends, the Germans.

Yes its the size of a cars remote. Just leave it in your pocket ,the bike picks it up from about 6 feet away. Yes the switch is abit cheap looking, well the knob is but wont be long before someone makes a chrome cover for it.
Was told by the shop the replacement key was about 45 usd.
And yes the pictures are the same colour as real life ,its a very bright red...
Its a good idea and sure it be on all 2017 worldwide models.

Good 'ol Keys, they have a way of walking away,

okay... getting misplaced, lost, stolen, even broken. Then we hunt. It's such a Waste of time. Frustration, anger and delays occur. Not to mention the blame thing: "Who misplaced the keys?"
Would I want keyless? I'm still uncertain. Not sold on it yet.
I have friends/family with keyless ignition. We're a busy minded society, so they wonder IF they actually shut their car down before exiting. They're not sure they pressed the button and...they can't hear the difference.
My sister and I recently got out of her new Lexus only to find she never turned it off. She thought she did. I said No. She got back in and fixed that.
It's weird, she's also walked away from it running. She's Not happy with this new futuristic feature....WooHoo, the "Start/Stop Engine Button!" Woweee
So....Where's the bells and whistle's warning that the vehicle is still in play? Think seatbelt. Hear anything? Ding ding ding. Until you yourself disengage that warning bell, it keeps doing its thing till you strap yourself in. True in American vehicles. Yours too?
Keyless? Dunno

new cars now if you walk away with a key and its running, it will sound the horn three times…
Stuff like this the engineers of figured out all the scenarios that you would have, to make it work. Mark my words, when this finally gets here, it will work fine and be appreciated by 99% of the people that have it.
This reminds me of the paranoid posts several years ago on improvements like EFI...

Yeah Glen, that's the odd part. Her's is a 2016 Lexus RX and it does Not honk. No alert.
Friend has a 2011 Toyota Rav4 (6 cyl) with this smart ignition and it beeps if still running.
Go figure. Back to Lexus dealer, I say.
