Bit of a facelift. Looks about as good as the PCX. The previous design wasn't quite as good looking.

There wasn't a previous Nmax, you're maybe thinking of the Smax?

Haven't seen one in the flesh yet but I prefer the look of the pcx. Engine is interesting though with the variable cam timing

Yes, Yes I was. Could very well explain why it looks so different. ;)

The ABS is front wheel only, unless I'm mistaken. I've never locked up my front wheels before.

When you do, you won't forget it.

Maybe the NMax will have some actual legroom whereas the SMax was very cramped. Is the fuel tank still sloshing around high up under the dash?

Nmax is the same layout as the PCX.

Smart move for Yamaha. The SMax had more power and highway capable top speed than the PCX but the Honda is better in every other respect. I could easily feel the fuel in the high tank of the Smax sloshing the handling around in parking lots.

Maybe I'm mistaken ....but have never heard of a one-wheel-only ABS system. ABS is a braking system that is connected to all wheels of a scooter or motorcycle. With ABS you will not have either end of a scooter lock up under braking.
A skidding tire, either end, increases your stopping distance and removes or interferes with your ability to steer. There is no substitute for the straight line braking distances of an ABS system in a now or never road situation. Not tires, nor expertise. You want ABS under you.
Clamp on the brakes - ABS will take over the braking & top anything you could do to slow your bike. Your job is to steer for an opening.
The new traction control systems with ABS will work their magic in corner braking.
Since few 2-wheel companies install ABS on their products in the USA - we will have to wait for the govt. to require ABS - as they already do on cars, and as Europe is now doing.
Until then, riders will not be as safe as they could be.
People used to say seatbelts will kill you. Some still say helmets kill you.....and that ABS is for the inexperienced rider.

Posted a short review of the NMax vs PCX yesterday on Youtube.

Driving it seems like the same bike. Brakes a little bit better. Brakes are fine on the PCX, these are a little better. Acceleration feels the same.

ABS can be single wheel.
Not sure the Nmax is front wheel only though.

One thing I have to love more about the PCX than the NMAX, is the handlebar. The PCX handlebar is skinny so I can mount my Quad Lock bike mount. My previous scooter, a Kymco Xciting, had fat plastic handlebar similar to the NMAX, that I could not properly install the mount.

Looks like a copy in the styling dept.,however the Nmax is much neater in placement of the control cables and the plastic panels look to have more screws than clips that break frequently on the honda. Same look but Yamaha has made it a bit more refined and outdoes it in the wheel and braking departments.Until you ride one and check out the running power, noise level ,and vibration, smoothness etc, the edge might go to the nmax.. Whats the price difference ??I would bet the Honda is cheaper..if not it will be..

Here's another video with a comparo of both bikes. At least they are moving away from the radically stepped seat. taller riders could just about hit their knees on the SMax.

I have the option to turn off the rear wheel ABS on my 690 KTM.

Price in the UK is similar between Nmax and PCX but Nmax is better value due to ABS and longer service interval.
