Honda pcx 125 esp 2013 model
Speedo recently started failing on and off as seen in vid(its got worse, now its more off than on) .now the engine warning light comes on when engine has warmed up(not sure if its related to speedo issue but the issues seemed to start at the same time).
the 1st thing i tried was a brand new speed sensor but it did not resolve my issue
Any ideas people i'm stuck
here is a vid showing the issue

Check all the connections behind the dash and gauges...get some electrical spray at a radio shack type store.

No warning light but i was told that the wiring is chafing when the suspension goes up and down i'm 17 stone so it might have something to do with that.probably doesn't stress the wiring if your lighter.your ecu has probably picked up the fault code mine never did.

good call. after stripping down the rear harness and using my multimeter to test each wire going to speed sensor it turned out to be a broken wire.

WOW! fastest solution for what I thought would not end well. Sometimes you just win, as for my speedo I don't wear it as much as I used to

For those of you who would like to protect certain areas in the wiring bundle from chafing I would like to suggest that you invest in some silicone tape. You can find it online or in many stores. At Walmart it is in the plumbing area.
I use it to wrap wiring bundles in areas where I have worked on the wires but can't get heat shrink on it, especially if it is in a bundle. It comes in a roll that is usually 1 inch wide. Cut pieces down to 1/2 inch wide for easier handling. You have to stretch the tape as you wrap it. It sticks to itself. Only itself.
I also just bought a bottle of liquid sealer but I haven't tried it yet so I can't give any recommendations. Just make sure when you do any electrical work on your bike that you seal the area back to a somewhat waterproof condition, especially if you ride in the rain.
