How is it that the S Max with only 2 cubic inches more displacement than the PCX can go 20 miles faster?

The pcx isn't really a fast scooter, it is an economical one.

But to answer your question there are several reasons:
1. It's not REALLY going 20 mph faster - the advantage is probably closer to 10 mph when you factor in the more realistic speedometer on the PCX.
2. Besides the 2 cc advantage it also has 2 more valves than the PCX so it can produce more hp.

I looked really hard at the Yammie Smacks (They're great) and others before pulling the PCX trigger.
I am a sucker for the step through design, and the higher top speed sounded great.
However, I just don't fit on the thing...legs are too long. I was getting cramps at my local dealer just trying to find a comfortable riding position.
In the end, it's what fits best for you, and while I like the SMax, I LOVE my PCX (makes, sense, I bought one and am posting here).
Alternative choices are always a good thing,

If you want your PCX to go faster, try a "Turbo" sticker underneath the PCX logo.

I did not mean to suggest by the way I put this question that I am not happy with my PCX. Nothing could be further from truth. I love the PCX for its agility, economy, low end torque, aerodynamic design. The only thing I can think of, off hand, that doesn't please me is the way you have to tear the bike to pieces to get to the engine.
