Double sided tape frustration...

I'm working on a secret project for Natasha, and I've been looking for a source for non-foam double sided tape. I've bought from vendors on Amazon, so far, three different rolls I was assured were not "foam type" double sided tape, only to get them and discover that's exactly what they were: Double-sided foam tape.

What I'm looking for is that stuff that's as thin as regular Scotch-brand invisible tape such as that found in offices everywhere, not the stuff that's 3/32" inch thick foam with sticky on both sides. That foam stuff is much too thick for my needs, and it's hell the ruggedest mile to get all the residue off without nail-polish remover. GooGone won't touch it either. Believe me, I've tried.

Does anyone have any idea where I could find the double-sided tape that isn't foam-based, or am I stuck with the foam kind that will create a visible seam?

scotch makes a double sided invisible tape. It's not very strong though.

Fabric store? Michael's craft store, Walmart? I think?
Yeah, it's Paper thin like scotch tape and sticky both sides. It would be used for making quick hems to pants, or for any art project that required it.
Hope I didn't dream this up  I Gotta ask Mama on Tuesday ;)
Ish, I'm soo tempted to ask you, "what project?" But, I won't. I'll be good ;)

Scotch makes a very thin foam tape that might work for you. It is only 1 millimeter thick. Color is a very dark grey.

Usually used to stick things on cars - trim panels, logos, etc.

Acrylic Foam Tape #4229 is how it is sold here in Thailand.

The tape I had in mind is the same tape I have seen on the bottom of those LED strips, and purports to be strong enough to permanently hold. It is not foam-based, and in fact looks like a paper-thin film of rubber cement, but it's sticky as hell.

The tape that you refer to, Bob, is still foam-based, and is precisely what I'm trying to avoid. That 1mm thickness will create problems in assembly and installation.

WhiteNoise, I promise, I will try to make it as good as your fertile imagination thinks it is.

I hope. <snicker>

While not cheap, try wood turner's tape. http://www.rockler.com/double-sided-turners-tape

How much do you need? If it is a foot or so of 1" tape, send me a PM.

Certainly not more than 18" at the very most. 3/8" width, but if your stuff is 1" wide, I can just split it in half. PM on the way.

Ish,
I use it in outside applications and it works well for me. Once it is stuck, it's on there!
This is automotive grade tape.
