Turns over but won't start!

I just took my 2015 PCX up to the gas station to fill it up. On my way home the engine cut out. When trying to start it back up the engine is turning over but won't start. I know I accidentally filled the tank to the brim. Could this be the cause? I have had no issues before this. Any help would be appreciated!

Open the fuel cap, then try again. F/I systems are not immune to vapor lock.

It shouldn't make any difference. I do this every time. I presume it was petrol/gasoline and not diesel you filled it with.

Ok I'll give that a try thanks! Yes regular gasoline :)

Just reporting that I took gas tank cap off and then immediately tried starting. This had no effect at this point.

Smell the gas. Diesel has a different smell than regular gas does. One problem that I have seen several drivers do is at BP stations. Their colors are green and yellow. Some of the pump handles are green as well, so it is very easy to confuse diesel and regular at that station based on the handles alone.

Thanks Mel, the station I pumped at has diesel completely separate. I definitely put premium unleaded on it.

It sounds like a bad batch of gas. If they had not drained out the water that happens on its own from condensation then you have a chance of getting water in your fuel. Buy some fuel stabilizer, drain as much fuel out as you can, put the stabilizer in and then try it. You will need something to wrap around the water molecules. If you have any gas for your lawn mower in a container, it will probably replace the bad fuel, so pour it in after removing the bad fuel.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tip!

So I got most of the gas poured out very sloppily but out nonetheless. I put some water removal in it and shook it around. This has not helped the scooter start but was probably worth doing anyways.

You are making sure the side stand is up right?

Not teaching you to suck eggs, done it myself :D

Yes, it would not turn over if the side stand was down. It just tries to start but doesn't actually start.

Well, I have run out of suggestions. Now is the time for some of our more experienced mechanics to come to his rescue. The engine runs on a simple enough principle. You need fuel, air and spark. Check your spark plug to make sure it is connected. Make sure the air filter isn't clogged. If all is well on those, I am thinking that you will have to take it to the shop. Some insurance has towing.

To be fair, I really didn't do a good job of emptying thr gas out. Is there a plug underneath to open the take and empty it? Also I've read it would be good to empty the carburetor too.

It doesn't have a carb. These are fuel injected, as most bikes are and probably all cars now. As far as how to get more fuel out for it, I can't remember where but there must be a fuel line thanks to can be disconnected. I will have to look in my service manual. I hope someone with more experience jumps in now.

Try to siphon out all your gas.

Refill a bit (like a 1/4 gallon), and try again.

That doesn't work, then at the beginning of this post: http://hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24

It shows how to disconnect the fuel pump. Do that process to empty the line, and then flop that line over the right side of the bike, past the engine, into a funnel. Siphon it all out again, and then plug in the pump, and crank it until it pumps dry. Do not run the pump dry more than a second or two if you can help it.

Report back, at that point, we may want to check spark or injectors.
