Front wheel spindle pinch bolt

Just a warning to all Forza 300 riders, you may want to remove and copper grease your front wheel spindle pinch bolt.
I need to get a new tyre on mine so had to get the wheel out.
Unfortunately the head has just twisted off the bolt, I was not using excessive force and the head just twisted right off leaving the bolt stuck in the hole.
I really despair of this thing, nothing is ever straightforward and I simply can't wait to be rid of it.

How many miles are on your Forza?
Mine has 21,500 miles. I got 13,400 miles out of the original Scootsmart front tire & 8000 miles so far out of a Michelin CityGrip which looks really good for a lot more use.
What would you replace the Forza with?
I like the concepts of the Forza but I wish the engineering was up to the Honda mythical standards.

That would ruin my day also... I would probably be mad at the world for a while over that one also

How did you end up getting it out ???

I rode it to a repair shop, told them what needed doing and handed them the keys.
The wheel spindle was solid too, the forks had to be dropped out the yoke, clamped up in a vice then heat and big levers and much swearing applied.
The bill was £160-ish which included fitting the new tyre and doing the MoT re-test, which I thought was pretty reasonable.
Am resigned to keeping the Forza over the coming winter and exchanging it in the spring for something more entertaining to ride.

I really liked the ergonomics of the Forza when I sat on it, much better than my SH150i for long rides, which is why I am going to get one. Much easier and less work / more relaxing than my CB500X.
What are you going to get to replace the Forza ?

Haven't decided yet, my mind changes from one week to the next.
Right now I'm thinking about the new SV650 but last week it was a GSX or Bandit 650 or 1250, before that it was an NC750S DCT, there was even a brief flirtation with the notion of a Triumph Street Twin.
The Street Twin died a death when I went to the dealer and found out that the nice cranberry red colour cost extra, there aren't any decent options for hard side cases, the fuel tank is tiny and I didn't care for the exhaust pipes brushed look finish much.

Gn2....
I think any bike you buy is going to be subject to the harsh climate you ride in....and park it
in.
What bike will best survive in those conditions do you think?
What is the Subaru of bikes? and would you enjoy owning it?
Tough situation. (Was surprised that you were considering another Honda -reading your comments about same.)
Good luck
Interested in what you decide.
Fish
(I lubed several fittings when my scooter was new ....because planning to ride year around in Ohio)

This is an interesting question, but only because I don't know what it is you're asking.
To me Subaru = nasty overcomplex unreliable rust bucket.
The reason I bought the Forza was for the luggage storage and reduced maintenance.
Turns out that the maintenance requirement is about the same as for a bike and the bodywork of the scooter makes jobs very much more difficult.
Case in point my Forza's fuel flap.
The release has stopped working but to fix it would require dismantling so much bodywork to get at it that I just can't be arsed even looking at it.
Instead I just jam it shut with a piece of folded paper shoved in the latch mechanism.

That doesn't sound like any Subaru I've owned.
Currently driving a BRZ. Simple, reliable, cheap and fun.
It's probably the fun part you would hate the most.

Put a back box on that Scooby Doo and it will sound great!

And look like the rest of the dicks?
I've kind of grown out of drawing attention to myself with broom broom sounds.

Nah, the sick dicks are running their droney 3" cat-back systems.
A delightful little 2.5" back-box let's you enjoy the boxer rumble without sounding like every other poof.

I'd probably put an UEL header on it if anything just to give it more of a boxer rumble.
But I like quiet cars. You can go faster in them. And I've got a mini euro trip coming up and don't want to fiddle with it too much beforehand.
