hi i just got my 2013 PCX two weeks ago
the fuel door opens when i hit potholes how to fix?
(still works fine with the release button)
door can be open by shaking it
please suggest a fix

There is a hook that holds the lid closed by going into a slot. If the hook is not going completely into the lid it will come lose while riding. The first thing I would do is to open the lid and watch the hook as it swings back. It should go back till it hits metal, and there should not be any marks on the metal below the slot. The slotted metal piece is on the underside of the lid itself. Inspect both parts for signs that they are not fully connecting. After that you can determine what can be done about it.

You might try hold your foot on it whenever you go over a bump. ... Sorry, I just couldn't resist posting this.

had to do that when it suddenly popped open

The bowden cable will be sticking through lack of lubricant.
Getting to it is a nightmare.
The one on my Forza 300 has this problem.
My cure is a piece of cardboard wedged in the mechanism.

I hate to say this but gn2 is more than likely correct about your problem. If the hook is not fully engaging then it probably has to do with the cable. The cable is mechanical in nature, not electrical even though it is close to your ignition switch, just like your seat latch which is also mechanical. If you can find a way to spray silicone spray into the cable it might start working again, but that will require you to remove most of the panels. It is much easier to wedge something between that door and panel than to remove all the panels.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm having the opposite issue. On a US 2017, the door stays closed all of the time and pressing the fuel door button does not open the door. I have to hold the button and use a plastic pry to open the door. I can't imagine the amount of plastics that need to be removed to fix this.

On the 2013 model you can take the center cover off after taking the seat off. It is fairly simple since it only has one screw holding it and then you have to get the door closing unit loose, but after that the whole panel would come off fairly easily. You have to have the door open to do this though.

update on the situation i found the culprit thanks to @Mel46
it was indeed the metal piece that had slightly bent
so i carefully bent it back ti the normal position.

RickJDS - this was my fix. Granted, it is treating the symptom rather than the problem, but over time my door seems to have become a bit better behaved. I still need to help the door on occasion, so I'm happy to have the fix in place.
