Slow Speed Spill on Tram Tracks

Whoops. Had to happen sooner or later. First fall on the PCX.

Have to ride over tram tracks about a dozen times a week. I don't mind them at speed but I learnt the hard way at slower speeds (cant have been faster than 5mph).

Bit of scuffed plastics. Old man works in motor repair trade so I'm going to get it repaired when the time comes to sell/trade in. For the time being I'm going to leave the damage... puts the thief's off.

Most damage was done to my own pride. Felt a right dope

You mean you skirt across trolley tracks running parallel with your direction? I could see how that might take the front out from under any bike o_O glad you didn't twist something.

People over here would sue the city. They need to have a safe place to cross. $$$ and a new bike, LOL

Yep. Our tracks are a little thicker though. Picture of the junction where it happened. You can see the cars emerging from the right to go straight (in the direction of the black car). You have to cross three tracks to position yourself in the middle of the road. Not bad at speed but front just fell away at slow speed.

Tram in Sheffield, Yorkshire.

Oh yea, that's messed up. Youth today don't even have the basics from riding bicycles to know that's a hazard. In your case you just done it so many times you got complacent, apathetic, or one of them big words youyou taught me :)

Dang, I wouldn't want to try those! We slow down to cross railroad tracks, and we look for a different way if the tracks are high. In your case, it looks like you have to be very very careful when crossing those. You are fortunate that you didn't have the incident previously.

Homie's tyres are too fat to be bothered by tram tracks now I expect.

I have some tracks a little similar to this that I have to cross. Of course I try to angle into the rails as much as possible.
But your situation is different.....man, I think I'd explore some other way to travel!

Since the trams were reintroduced in Edinburgh there have been loads of bicycle accidents with the rails. The council want to encourage cyclists but install booby traps for them.
