Engine Sputtering at High Speed

I have about 500 miles on my PCX 150. Last week I was running it around 70 MPH and the Engine started to sputter. Is this an air intake issue? I'm nervous to go at High Speeds now. Looking for any thoughts / suggestions. Thanks!

Where are you from? It could be a regional fuel thing. Ethanol traps water from the atmosphere. Also if your PCX is brand new and with only about 500 miles logged, trying to do 70 is a bit over-the-top IMHO. I don't know the history of your machine.
So it could be fuel contamination or phasing from ethanol. Outside chance it could also be a whiskered plug. . .a particle of metal could has gotten lodged between the electrodes on the spark plug. . .especially if the engine is still "breaking in".
There's other possibilities that our more mechanically skilled posters may identify but that's my quick answer.

Agreed, someone not familiar with the governor system on these engines reaching the limiter for the first time might interpret this to be engine trouble. Although you should have been feeling that at 64 mph on a stock 2016 PCX150. Use a GPS app to check the actual speed please. I would really like to know.

If you were running at close to 70 mph then you were right at the limit on the pcx, so you probably were feeling the limiter kick in. Try running it up to that speed again, and if it does it again at that speed, but not before, then it is your limiter telling you to back off.

Mine does it at about 67 mph indicated. I was thinking it's a bad plug, but since it only happens above 63, I decided it's the rev limiter.

Typical pre-LED PCX, I still want you to meet me on 355 and run that 2013 against my 15 with my vario kit someday

Thanks for the Posts folks. I live in Boston so it's not an ethanol thing I believe. It must be the Limiter because it's only at the highest speed. I feel better now, thank you!
