He has 6 or 7 more, when this one perishes. All the same - only one other is art painted.

He's rather a skilled, retired, mechanic. Owns a mint 1951 BMW w/sidecar, a '30's tow truck & a Red Honda Reflex.....and those 7 Toyota Estate wagons.

I bet that it isn't an American made vehicle. About the only American vehicles I know of that have high miles and are still running are trucks. We use to make cars that would last. Then the manufacturers went to throw away parts.
I know of many Honda cars that are still running after 200,000 to 300,000 miles on them.

If my 15 year old Jeep frame wasn't rotting from the inside out. . .and what it looked like on the outside wasn't great either. . .I would have kept it and put more money into it for maintenance as needed. But it's foolish to put new money after old when the foundation you want to build on is crumbling. Redoing the frame would have involved a tear down and beaucoup $$ and a dedicated garage.
That being said I can't stop grinning every time I take my new Honda Fit on the road. Don't know why. . .it's that much fun to drive. The manual transmission is the way to go.

I had a Toyota Carina E 1.6 saloon which I sold with around 220,000 miles on the clock.
The next owner drove it for another five years or so.

I once drove a Peugeot courier van that had over 300,000 miles on. I don't like Peugeot because French cars feel rattly and light and they're not supposed to be reliable. But this one had done over 300,000 miles.

Our son, when he was in high school and wanted his first car, bought a used Honda Accord (when they were smaller than the new Civic) that had made the rounds at the school year after year after year. I don't even know what his number was in the ownership line, but the car had 240,000 miles on it and was still running. We helped him do the maintenance on it and he learned a lot from that car. He eventually sold it to another high school student when he graduated. That must have been 20 years ago. I saw that car on the road a few years ago, still running. I wonder how many miles are on it now.
