The past week or so, on short commutes, I've noticed that when releasing the throttle and starting to press the front brake (gently with rear brake applied first, but that's irrelevant), it seems the throttle may be sticking a bit as I sometimes have a bit of revving when there should be none.
I'm sure my riding style has not changed and I am trying to be careful, but it seems the cable or deeper mechanical bits n pieces may have started to have issues.
Any ideas if it's likely to be the cable sticking or something else?

It’s generall the cable or the throttle drum.

Try spraying wd40 between the twist grip and the switchgear at first along, with the exposed end next to the throttle body. Wiping off any excess

Have you fitted heated grips?

Nothing changed or added since purchases.
Along with this issue I now think I'm a little paranoid so could someone verifiy that . . . . with no throttle and slowing down, the speedo normally takes time to drop fully to zero i.e. the last few mph is dependant on actual movement till coming to rest and nothing to do with anything else on the bike?

The speedo is only linked to wheel speed, nothing else.
There is always "damping" in a speedo so the response may not be instantaneous.

Thanks all. Yeah, paranoid now, but there has been several occasions where the revs have ramped up when I've not, to my knowledge twisted the throttle a little, and this is when coming to a stop. Will have to take a look.
