Wow, I forgot what it’s like to have power!

Since I bought my PCX my other bike (Honda 599) has been parked in the garage. I decided to take it out this morning and holy sh*t, I forgot what 100hp feels like. I don’t ride fast, but getting up to speed is instantaneous (of course) but I forgot what that felt like.

When I got home I took a spin on the PCX to have a back to back comparison thinking it would be laughable power wise after riding the 599, it wasn’t. The acceleration from 0-35 is impressive even after being on a much more powerful bike. It’s after 35-40 that you can really feel the lack of power.

To summarize, the PCX has more power than you’d expect for a 150cc. Riding them back to back confirmed three things;
1. Both are a blast to ride.
2. The PCX has just about the right amount of power and speed for 90% of the riding that I do. If it could reach 65-70 and keep 55mph uphill it would be just about perfect. I gues the NYC kit is in my immediate future.
3. The 599 has way more power than necessary for the riding I do... but it’s nice to have when you need it.

I guess you need the 599 for those 'Ohio' hills (notice how that reference was quitely put in there. My wife says that PA didn't want Pittsburgh, so they gave it to Ohio...but then, she is from State College, just over the mountain.)

Remember when you install the NCY variator that there will be a short seating time, probably a couple of rides, before you will notice the wider band of power, and even that is not as quick as your 599. All in all though, I think you will be happy with the improvement the NCY setup will give your little scooter.

If you are already happy with the takeoff, you may not feel a need for the 13 gram rollers, but I think they will surprise you as well. i rode around for awhile with just the roller upgrade to see what improvement those gave my PCX and I was quite happy with the quicker takeoff.

Giggles....bet you'll be liking PCX Power more and more everyday. It's such a pleasure to manipulate, (in a nice way) and still get that wind blowing thru yer Hair (ok, some have, some don't have) but you get my drift :lol: Wait! One should NOT feel wind blowing thru their hair(s)!
"Hat's On Folks!!"

Thanks for sharing your comparisons Mike, it was an interesting enjoyable read ;)

Yes. . .the PCX is all you need for just about anything non-Interstate or 60+ MPH.

But having that rocket ship back in the barn for those days you have the need for speed is just awesome isn't it?

Plus it's a great conversation piece at parties. . .nice to be able to say "and I also have a . . . ." too! :D
