As I predicted two years ago, the ACG starter is utilised as the hybrid electric motor, although not in the way I had first thought.

I noticed three things from the new bulletin.

First, It looks like it will be "Build to order" for the Hybrid in Japan. I am guessing that is to see how the market responses.

The second thing that I noticed was that it will come with the 125cc engine. If they introduce it in the United States, even with it being advertised with more base horsepower, I don't think they will be able to sell us on the drop back to 125cc after introducing us to the advantages of the 150cc engine.

Third: The price they are quoting in yen equals $3,893 U.S.dollars base price. I know that prices are increasing on everything, but the scooter field in the United States is already pretty low, and there is a lot of competition. Raise the price and you could price yourself out of the market.

I love the idea and I have really enjoyed Honda's hybrid systems in the past as they tended not to be intrusive in a bad way on the driving experience (and added to it in cars like the CR-Z), but the mileage would be something like 119mpg according to that link, and that is a gain, but I get about 100mpg right now with my PCX125, it seems like the gain just isn't that much to justify adding the extra complexity.

I have read many reviews from Indonesia, and I came to the same conclusion. The extra price cannot be justified by the mileage gain and the complexities of the hybrid system. The hybrid system may be more relevant to higher displacement bikes.

What are the features/ advantages we can find within a 2018 Hybrid PCX over the typical PCX?

It'll be partly electric driven. A high-output battery and ACG(Alternatin CurrentGenerator) starter motor will assist the engine resulting to a lesser fuel consumption. Batteries will be rechargeable I believe.

Yes, Maybe It will result in a lesser fuel consumption. But, The approximation should give a sense right? Think If, hybrid one gives about 42 km of mileage whereas the standard one gives about 40 km of mileage per Litre, Purchasing a Hybrid one would be a waste of money..
Likely, If honda can give such an estimation, It would be worthwhile to get understand its efficiency.

Considering that on non-stop rides I usually get 114 mpg on my PCX 150cc, what could a Hybrid do that would make owning one better? The 100 mpg is a Honda estimate for this bike, but road trips can easily get better gas mileage than that. Maybe the advantage would be for in-city riding. I can see the advantage of using mostly electrical while riding there, with the engine recharging the system. I would like to see their statistics on the city averages.

Owning a hybrid PCX will give the open toe sandal wearing lentil munching treehugger hipster brigade something to feel self satisfied and smugly superior about.
