12 mm sockets and an extension are needed to remove the fill and the drain plugs.
Approximately .1 of a quart (100 ml) of gear fluid is needed. Honda owner's manual recommends 10W30 engine oil.
I recommend Synthetic 75W90 gear fluid.

The gear fluid on a 2018 bike laready needs changing! (should last years). If Honda say engine oil is good enough, nothing wrong in using that especially as many of us do so and have zero issues.

Thats what Honda says. But when I changed mine at 600m, there were metal specs visible all through it. When I changed it again at 1,500m for the heck of it, however, there were none.

You can go ahead and use the thin engine oil but don't be surprised when you wear out your final drive prematurely. If you want to understand why I recommend the gear oil just search the internet.

Honda spec engine oil, dealers often use it - never heard of any trouble using it.
