So this video kind of explains what I was suspecting. The comparisons of indicated vs actual speed are in KPH but you get the idea.
It seems to be an industry wide thing to have optimistic speedometers. The more things change the more they stay the same in that regard.

I reckon that the new Forza has an even greater discrepancy. Using metric, I'd guess that the speedo reading of 140kph is an actual 128kph (XMax 132).
I don't really mind as my brain only understands what it sees so I think that I'm going very fast (but unlikely to get a ticket)

same for PCX and any other motorcycles Iv'e ridden.
This false advertising should stop. Manufacturers should be required to give us accurate data when we're riding.

I expect it is mostly legal-beagle stuff. If they tried to make the speedo perfectly accurate and failed on the low side, they would get sued by people who got tickets. Giving themselves a margin of error on the high side actually makes sense to me.

I just put "deer whistles" on mine since that last encounter I had with 5 deer at dusk. There were a lot of water sources in the area. Felt it was better than nothing . . ..
