Expectant owner

Hi all,

New member and soon to be new owner. Been considering getting a 2 wheeled motorised plaything for a while. Have owned many bikes previously but not for a few years. Was toying with an original Honda cub (c90) but they are expensive and old/slow by today’s standards. Next potential was a Vespa but the rust issues put me off, so the PCX seemed to be the best option. So I have ordered a brand new 2019 bike in red, I’m expecting to collect it around the 8th of May. As soon as I have it I’ll post some pics

Roger.

Nice one Roger.
I bet (if like me,) your counting the hours until you get it.
If you see my postings"Excited pcx owner....pictures"
You will see what I mean..ha ha
I supposed we are in the same boat....you cant wait to get yours and get out and ride it and for the time being....all I can do is sit here and look at mine.
Would love too see some pictures after you get it.
Adrian

The new Super Cub is a cutie, but not enough power for what I need day-to-day. The PCX cruises nicely at 50 mph with my chubby butt on top and that's as fast as I ever need to go. You made a great choice!

Thanks all, the dealer has issued my registration number and I have insured it ready to collect next Friday. Fingers crossed for a decent day of weather!

Congratulations on your choice and welcome to the forum Picxie! Don't think you'll regret it and fingers crossed for dry weather tomorrow.

So, trotted off this morning to catch a bus with my new stuff like a kid going to his first day at school. Arrived at the dealer who made me a coffee and relieved me of the balance of the payment for the bike, after that he wheeled the bike out and did the handover. They have fitted a lead under the seat for a battery tender at no charge which I thought was a nice touch.

First impressions: The key could double up as a sword if I find myself going back in time! I know keyless go is an option in the Far East, shame we don’t have it here. General quality of the bike is great, for a commuter type machine it certainly feels quality. Brakes feel good, even though the rear is a drum it doesn’t feel underpowered. I lave left the stop/start on as I have it on my car so an used to the experience. Acceleration is good, certainly for urban areas. Too early to tell yet how it will be out of town. I am really impressed with the handling, I wasn’t expecting it to feel as composed as it does going round bends, I was worried with a traditional scooter layout it would have that weird feel that you get on some scooters where the rear is not quite fully attached, didn’t experience any of that.

Once I work out how to post pics from an iPad I’ll post some up.

They are putting better tires on them now . . ..

I like the color . . . better than the Bronze they offer in the U.S. now. :geek:

They should bring back the choice of White or Red again. :geek:

I'm sure you will love the bike, like you I have had tons of bikes over the years. Old age and a new hip led me to a new pcx in 2017.
I have enjoyed it so much that I convinced myself that all the 2018/9 improvements would be the icing on the cake. So bit the bullet and swapped for a new one in April. Early days but love the new dash, bigger tyres and ABS particularly.
Oh and gone from the grey to the red!

Thanks all. Looking forward to getting some more miles done. My full face helmet just fits under the seat which is a relief as I read they can be a bit difficult to get a helmet to fit on some of the models/sizes.

I might move to an open face when the weather picks up a bit, anyone else using an open face helmet? How is it for wind blast?

Congrats on the new bike.
I have used an open faced helmet in the past but when I recently did my CBT course, the instructor said the open face is fine but wont offer any protection to the chin etc. In the unfortunate event of an accident.
I have the full face helmet but the front flips up.
I only flip the front up if I go into a shop or stop to speak to someone

Thanks for the response. I was thinking of one of the open faces with the full visor e.g.Bell Riot. I know they won't offer as much protection but do prefer the additional visibility you get. I might have a look at the weekend and see what I think.

Arai makes a version like this too- I can’t speak to safety comparisons but I like mine.

Welcome! I ride predominantly with an open face helmet. My main helmet is a Roof, which can be used as open or fullface but I only use the fullface option on motorways. I also have a couple of lightweight open face helmets, a Biltwell and a Koji for hot days.
