Gain more speed

I have a 2013 Pcx a kid was using it has a dirt bike. I have new plastic coming for . What simple upgrades can I do for better speed. I would like to do 75 max at the top end. What exhaust would be good to switch out to a not tring to break the bank. I thanks you for the help. Going from beat up black to all white.

Your best bet is to change out the Rollers to a lighter weight, the PCX 150 works great with 13 gr rollers or sliders. A pipe won't do much except give you a better sound, and possibly be lighter. But no performance increase. At least none you can feel. If you can find a pipe change in my signature line below .

Daddychip, please go into your profile and add your general location. It helps us to better help you. For instance, in the United States we can easily order the NCY variator, drive face and 13 gram rollers...all of which will help your bike. Also, make sure you replace your belt. You don't know how abused that belt was, so replace it. Oh, and get some kind of windscreen. The wind needs to be diverted.

(Don'the worry about the 2010 description, or the 125. It fits all of them.)

If you live outside of the United States you may find it difficult to obtain the NCY variator. Then you may have to find a comparable one.

Just my opinion - but 75mph on a bike as light as a PCX might leave you wishing you had a heavier bike with different geometry.

I very seldom try to push mine to 75 mph, though it will do it. The biggest advantage is when it has to go up a hill. If the speed limit is 45 - 50 mph then it can keep up with traffic when everyone is going up the hill.

you think by 2014 models upwards they be least 13hp -15

You would think, but remember that the 125cc version is the most popular in Europe due to regulations, and in the Asian market Honda's goal was economy. Any extra "umph" in these engines comes from third party vendors.

If Honda increased the engine size to 200cc there would still be riders who would want more, even though the PCX is quite light. I, as well as many other owners in the United States, would love to have a 200cc PCX, but Honda built the PCX as an economy scooter. There are big bore kits available that will bump the bike up to 175cc, though it does take some doing. I think you have to also buy a piggyback for the ECU, but others on this forum know more about it than I do.

Why Honda hasn’t resolved the seat and mirror issues yet is really odd to me. I can’t imagine they don’t monitor forums for customer feedback- I really don’t get it. The cb500 mirrors resolved that issue but while I really like my PCX, I really *hate* the seat and so do a lot of other owners.

I would like to improve the mirror view, but $120 for the cb500 mirror set seems pretty pricey. Growl.

Does the NCY upgrade give any increase in MPG?

Does the NCY upgrade give any increase in MPG?
That is a strange question in that Honda was trying to squeeze out the best fuel economy they could when they designed the PCX, and third party parts manufacturers are trying to get more "umph" out of them. It is usually a swap out....get one at the expense of the other.

The NCY variator and drive face are meant to allow for a slight increase in top end. They were not even trying to maintain the same mpg when they designed them...so no, it won't give any increase in mpg. If you are lucky and use the extra top end conservatively you might be able to get the same mpg out of it. Mine stayed the same until I rode more aggressively, like keeping up with bigger bikes going to the mountains.

If not mistaken in Europe you can only find the 150cc version in Italy and Russia, due to highway minimum restrictions.

You are probably correct, though there are ways people get past all of that. A big bore kit would turn a 125cc PCX into a 170cc PCX, though it would still have a registration as a 125cc.

And (in the UK at least) a big bore kit would make it illegal, unless you register the change in engine size.
Over the hill and picking up speed on the long downhill unto death.
