Changing brake pads - PCX 125 2013

Post by proteinsdef »

Evening,

I am wanting to change the front pads on my scoot as I remove the front wheel to get the tire changed. I was wondering how difficult is it?. Do I just take the caliper off and the pads fall out or are they fixed in, in some way?

Thanks in advance

its not that difficult to replace pads. Just don't let anyone depress the brakes while you have the caliper off. You should be able to remove the inner pad first, then slide the outer one off. Be careful to get the springs back in correctly as well.

If it helps, take pictures as you go so you can refer to them for reassembly. The process sometimes takes a bit of elbow grease, but it's not too bad. You may need a clamp to depress the pistons prior to installing the new pads since they will be thicker than the old ones. A clamp is also helpful if someone does depress the brake levers on you while you have the caliper off the wheel.

Honkerman might have meant sprung pad retainers although I'm not sure they have these either.

It is a spring, just not a coil spring.

Looking at the manual, which I didn't have access to when I gave my original response you don't even have to remove the caliper to change the pads.
