Spark plug change pcx150,under which cover?

Post by pcx150man »

Hi all, I want to change the spark plug on my pcx150, i did look at the manual diagram here on the forum, but i still can not easily or clearly identify which side or indeed which cover to remove to replace the plug?

Any one have any step by step pics?

,And should I set the gap?...the guy at the bike shop said don't bother,,the manual states otherwise?

thx :)

No owners manual (surprised how many people recently do not have one!)
Still, this is old but may still should be applicable

Now that you've found the cover, have fun getting the plug out. It's a bit of a tight squeeze.

Not according to the book. Why, it should be a snap. Just "use the tool included in the kit"... sure....I wonder if the guy who wrote that part of the manual had ever tried to change one. :-/

Are the plugs on an ESP engined bike in a different place to the early bikes because I thought my one came out easy.

They are in the same place, but sometimes it is difficult to get a socket into that tiny space between the frame and the plug. Then there is the angle of the plug itself. If it is tight because it has been in there for a long enough time, it is very difficult to break it free. Then you have to get your fingers in there to try to loosen it the remainder of the way. You were one of the few who had no trouble getting the plug out. By the way, I still do not see anything in their 'kit' to help get a spark plug out.

I have checked the spark just couple a days ago on my PCX 125 eSP. No problems at all :D
And yes, I do have pretty big hands.

The main TRICK is not to use the main stand but to park the bike on the side stand. Otherwise the frame stands in the way and with PCX tool it´s almost impossible to replace the spark.

Just leave your spark plug alone unless you've done more than 60k or are having starting issues.

Your not are you? And you can't find the spark plug. Not looking good.

Don't put us up against a "bike shop guy" and a "manual states" piece of tat.

This morning I tried to change the spark plug in my PCX 150 pre LED with the extended flexible spark plug spanner I bought after having difficulty trying before , no luck still the frame was interfering with the socket , I came upstairs read the forum here and watched the uTube video by the American guy doing the 5000 mile spark plug change.
In this video I noticed he seemed to go straight in at the required angle to engage the spark plug with his plug tool which was long.
Then I read in this forum (thank You Nemesis) that putting the bike in the side stand was the trick ,
Then I went downstairs again put the bike on the side stand and aimed my extended spark plug tool straight in and made connection OK and got the plug out pretty easy.
So it seems that putting the bike on the centre stand alters the position of the engine/spark plug slightly to make it more difficult to get out. (Even though the American guy in the video seemed to have his on the centre stand, maybe he had an LED bike maybe they are a bit different)

As far as gapping new ngk plugs are concerned I have read on the internet they are correctly gapped out of the factory and You should not try and regap them as in some the anode (?) is easily damaged compared with those of days gone by.
