I believe I've used a large pair of channel lock pliers successfully. Put the scooter up on it's center stand to minimize the preload on the spring. The shock can easily be removes from the scooter also...no need to remove and panels or the muffler.

I replaced the original one (2014 Forza) with Honda's new part a year or two ago...seat now always stays up all the time!!! Makes the scoot much more enjoyable to use everyday.

Hi and thanks for the swift reply. I have to say that it makes sense. I have been riding bikes for years now and I have replaced many head bearings in my life but this is by far the most perfect (if I can call it that way) way in whichever they wore out (if this is the case). Cycle shop only sells Honda 10W-30 MA oil for wet clutch motorcycles. The manual says to use MB since, I'm assuming, the Forza has a dry clutch. Preload is at the softest setting. Ride is worst at slow speeds over sharp bumps. Highway ride is acceptable. I also have a 1985 Honda Elite250. Surprisingly it has a much more acceptable ride in all conditions. ???
