Re: How Well Does the PCX 150 Pull from 50 to 60 MPH?
Its ok, not fast. It keeps up with normal traffic pretty easily till you cross the 60 mph mark. After that the acceleration gets slower until it tops out around 68 to 70 depending on wind and hills. On my commute I cross the Hoan bridge which has a 3.1 % grade and climbs 125 ft in under a mile. I ca...

Re: my pcx hates long hills
9%!!! I have a mile long 3.1% grade over a bridge every day and that's enough to hold me to 60 at best, mid 50's if there's a headwind.Lanesplitter wrote:Even at 155 lbs, it's hard to hold 50 mph on a mile long 9% grade.

Re: 2016 pcx150 warm up question
I only warm it up by starting it first, then putting on my riding gear, so maybe a minute or so. I do however drive at light throttle for the first few blocks. That light little lump of motor warms pretty quickly with 4 or 5 hp running through it.

Re: i think cars are cheaper to use
Besides the fun factor, I got mine for commuting to work in place of my car, and am able to use it about 75% of the annual trips. So the math: 11 miles daily x about 180 commute days = 1980 miles not on my car at 0.54 cents mile = $1069 worth of wear and tear my car doesn't see every year. I had an ...

Re: Expressway Riding (U.S.)
I ride expressway to work every day with no troubles, but the speed limit is 55 and cars rarely go more than 65 which I can usually match. I really don't have any trouble with wind or truck wakes, the pcx wiggles a bit, but not really any worse than any of the motorcycles I have had with similar big...

Winter side fairings
I made up these side fairings from black coroplast to help stay warm on what is lately very cold commutes. The are held on by having a hole that slips over the turn signal and then simple clear tape where it meet the bodywork. It works quite well, making a still air bubble that extends back nearly t...

Re: Low rev vibration
I agree about glazed clutch, mine does this periodically since I probably baby it from starts too often. The solution is easy though, just hold the pcx still with the brakes and give it maybe 1/2 throttle for about 5 seconds. It will then be nice and smooth until the next time it glazes again. No ne...

Re: PCX150 - Vario150 Belt Swap
I just found this article that compares V and cogged belts, and its says cogged belts are about 2% more efficient than v belts. On our 13 hp pcx's that means about 1/4 extra hp to the wheel. At $30 or so that makes a cogged belt swap probably 2nd only to dr pulley sliders on a cost to benefit scale....

Re: PCX150 - Vario150 Belt Swap
So is there a consensus if the cogged belt can be used on older pcx 150's? (I've got a 2013) The dimension specs make it sound like it should fit.

Re: Regular Long Distance Riding
At redline the pcx only has a 3600 fpm piston speed. That is not a high number and most of the time it will actually be lower since you aren't topped out on the rev limiter.
I doubt you can really hurt it just by riding on the hwy. It simply doesn't rev high enough.

Re: 2014 PCX 150 - speed for best economy
I would expect like with most vehicles the pcx will get its best " real world " fuel economy at whatever minimum speed is required to have the variator in the " top " gear position. I don't have a tach for my 2013 pcx, but I would expect it would probally be in the neighborhood o...

Re: Pcx 150
My 2013 is only mildly modified with dr pulley sliders and the variator face file-milled, but it also has a large national cycle 12.75" windshield and will still get me to around 70-71 mph most of the time. ( no headwind or hills of course! ) Cruising 65 plus is not an issue, so the bike is bes...

Finally did the seat humpectomy
After trying unsuccessfully several times to repad my stock 2013 seat after I pulled off the stock mini backrest, ( pull cover, change foam, recover ) because I was hoping to use the stock seat backrest mount to add a real backrest, I finally broke down and did the seat mod like everyone else. What ...

Re: When do you fill up your PCX150? (2013)
I wait till the last bar starts blinking and usually put in about 1.35 gallons or so. That's 0.25 gallon left so about 20 miles left in the tank.

Re: Break in and increasing fuel economy
On my 2013, when the last bar starts blinking I need to put in about 1.35 gallons to top it up, so there is still 1/4 gallon left, enough for a safe 20 miles on my pcx.
