New seat fitted

My new seat from MP Motors arrived from Thailand yesterday.
It was sent on 8th of March so 3 weeks delivery time to Scotland which is not too bad.
It got hit with a customs charge of £30 which seems to be a completly random system. A guy on the UK PCX Forum orderded after me and his seat arrived sooner and with no charge ! However you win some, you lose some.
The build quality is really impressive, better than I expected. It's one case where the web pictures don't really do it justice.
Fitting took about a minute, only four nuts to remove with a socket set, easiest bike job I've ever done.
The seat is comfortable and importantly supports my back, it should help stop lmy natural inclination to slouch on the old seat. I had the support fitted 3" back from normal as I'm 6'2" and thats worked really well.

All in all I'm delighted, would recommend to anyone.

Did it come with a rubber seal attached, or did you have to reuse your old seal from the stock seat?

Very Nice! Let us know how it feels in a few weeks. I am betting that you will love it.
I would have ordered one like that if it hadn't been for the device I have implanted in my back at the belt line. I have had to work around that issue when riding. However, that seat really does look comfortable. Enjoy it. :-)

Your scoot is a Beauty! and I'm liking the looks of your New seat. I considered ordering one like it but refrained and bought the one with the lower backrest. I too will wait to hear what you're opinion is after a few rides. Hmm, wondering would those open areas of the backrest be sturdy enough for a passenger to hold onto? It's tempting Im sure. Meant to be?

Not to be a p.i.t.a., but could you post a photo of your scoot without the topbox on it? A full side shot?

No, those open areas are mimicking faux race seats that mimic the openings for a racing harness.

Nice looking seat. Classy. I'll bet you could even add a tail pack on the pillion portion and use those holes in the backrest to help secure it in a pinch. . .extra storage space for bulky light stuff.

Thanks guys, I'll report back after I get some use out of it.

You get two options when you order a seat, an OEM base unit which would not have the rubber seals and also reduces underseat storage space, or a genuine Honda base with seals etc in place. The price difference wasn't that much so I went for the Honda one.

The backrest is very sturdy. One of my concerns with asking for it to be moved back a full 3" was that it would lose some of it's strength, but this has not been the case. It's a solid bit of kit.

Well that is a first! :-) I can see that it is a trike. I wonder how comfy it is for long rides. Maybe they take it on cattle runs and they pull the chuck wagon behind it, or they chase after the strays with it. The Wild West has changed a bit.

Does it sit and lower? I'm 5'7" and have a the tallest givi windshield and get bad helmet buffeting, lower seat would help my issue. Would be perfect if it would drop 2 inches or so

I don't know if they will fit your particular year or not but my wife is short so I purchased two things to help.
1. A new seat from Thailand that has the back brace built in. That lowered her about an inch.
2. Takegawa Lowering Shocks. That dropped the bike rear another inch or two. I liked her shocks so much that I ordered a pair for my pcx as well. They are adjustable too, so the ride is fine.

Takegawa Lowering Shocks. That dropped the bike rear another inch or two.

I am not sure that would work as the shocks would help to get the feet closer to the ground, but I don't think it will do anything for the head height compared to the windscreen height. The seat might fix that, but I don't think the shocks will.

Actually the lowering shocks do lower the back, and since the front stays the same height while the rear goes down, the rider is actually lowered an inch or so. If you read the entire How-to you will see in the end where Dave (Maddiedog) compares his PCX 125 to my wife's PCX 150 after the shock change. Here is his comment concerning the difference in height:

"Here is the completed PCX 150 next to my PCX 125. My PCX has a rear fender removal kit, but you still get the idea -- there is a huge difference in height with the lowered suspension:"
