Automatic Seat Lift
I was bored and i had this hydraulic strut that i bought on webike looong time ago but never ended up using it, that was sitting on the work bench and just staring at me...so last night i thought to finally have a go at installing it...

I like it. A how-to would be great.Pcxdemon wrote:I was bored and i had this hydraulic strut that i bought on webike looong time ago but never ended up using it, that was sitting on the work bench and just staring at me...so last night i thought to finally have a go at installing it...
I can see how the strut is attached to the seat, but are they self-tapping screws or bolted on the other side? If they are self-tapping, what did you do to prevent the screw end from poking through the seat cushion? If it is bolted on the other side, how did you lift and refasten the upholstery? As well, what length is that strut?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

Re: Automatic Seat Lift
Screws are small, not self tapping...they are not long and they were supplied with the strut. So no modification needed to any parts of the seat. Literally took 1min to install!
I got the strut from webike, I tried to find the link for it so I can put it on here but couldn't find it again from the brief look. I'll look again later to see if I can find and share it..

I have seen a post of the spring depicted in the second link, but can't find it. Someone else recently asked about something like that. That spring looks like it would be less obtrusive than the strut.

Re: Automatic Seat Lift
The spring is obviously more ideal but the strut is actually not that intrusive unless a full face helmet is required to go under the seat. And it looks the biz...

Re: Automatic Seat Lift
its great but now there's no chance of storing a full helmet with chin protection. other that that: LEGEND
Re: Automatic Seat Lift
That's correct, however for those trips that require full face helmet there is a good news..this strut literally takes 1 minute to takedown or install back on.lennoxlewis wrote:its great but now there's no chance of storing a full helmet with chin protection. other that that: LEGEND
