wow you dont ride to much i put almost 5k miles in like 7 monthsMel46 wrote:So your father-in-law put 5,000 miles on it but didn't improve it by way of seat or tail box? I'm surprised. The big advantage of a scooter is storage, and the more the merrier. Hopefully he did add a taller windshield than it normally comes with. I have a little over 5k on my bike and it is set up for comfortable riding.

Re: New Owner - 2013 PCX
My bike has been ridden very little since our accident. Not because I don't like to ride. I love to ride, but until very recently my wife could not, or would not, ...not sure if she was afraid or just not feeling like her shoulder was ready to try again. Whenever I wanted to go out by myself she would get upset, either by the fact that she wasn't going too or else she was afraid for me.
So the bikes were ridden just enough to make sure the oil circulated and the tires were warmed up...this for the last 18 months. Recently she got up her nerve and rode. Now we have to wait for just the right day, so that she can repeat the ride.
For all of you who have never been involved in a motorcycle accident, it can be traumatic. I believe that she became overconfident and it caught up with her. She likes to believe that she is an experienced rider, but she isn't. So, when the accident happened it traumatized her emotionally, as well as injured her physically. It is hard to get the nerve to climb back up on one once you have been injured, especially if you are an inexperienced rider. I applaud her for deciding that she loved to ride more than feared the possible outcomes. She now has the correct gear and hopefully has learned to respect wearing it. Her big complaint is that it is too hot to wear it, but I will not ride with her if she decides to ride without the proper gear now.
Prior to the accident we put around 13,000 miles on her bike. I traded in my Burgman in for a PCX not too long before the accident, so I only have around 5,000 miles on mine. Before the accident, we were out whenever we could be. We will see what the future brings now.

As more people and vehicles compete for space on the roads today it does get more intense. Have to admit I really take my riding my seriously than ever. Hope your wife is able to find comfort in her riding again and hope the new gear has some venting properties. Once you get moving along it makes a big difference I think. Sitting in stop and go city traffic bites. I'd stick to cooler, more shaded, back country roads if you are able to get to any nearby and take baby steps with her. Does she have a windscreen on hers? Maybe remove it to let the wind cool more?My bike has been ridden very little since our accident. Not because I don't like to ride. I've been to Helen, GA. Nice place. Sort of like a Bavaria atmosphere along the Chattahoochee River. You can tube the river there as well. Take a ride in the 4-wheeler there some time just for the trip. I think she will like it. You can get a nice meal there as well. Would be too far for the PCX but you could talk about your next ride closer to home. Here's a link for more info.

I'm in Madrid at the moment. The traffic is a mix of two and four wheels and is a bit yippkiya as homie and Bruce would say. Scooters are really gungho and aggressive. Haven't seen anything approaching and accident though
