I paid my local Honda dealer $130 + $15.60 taxes for $145.60 Canadian or about $112.44 USA.E. Foster Salsbury wrote:How much was the belt and where did you get it?
I really want to support my local dealer but this is getting silly.
I was supposed to get it at a better price but the new crop of teenagers working there don't know that I am a preferred customer.

Re: Are Forza 300 parts hard to get?
I am getting tired of waiting for my dealer to get me a tire. Today they said maybe by September.
I called Fort Nine in Montreal, they said by July 27 I should have my tire at my door for $77 Canadian or $59.50 USA.
The dealer was to be $116 Canadian and it will be 120 kilometers round trip.
I ride a lot so I will buy both tires and have one ready for next time.

Why not just get the two tyres from Fort Nine?

Because I gave a verbal contract to my local dealer to buy the tire I ordered. I intend to honour my request.you you wrote:davenowherejones wrote:I am getting tired of waiting for my dealer to get me a tire. Today they said maybe by September.

You crazy? Oh wait don't......
Waiting 6 weeks on a MAYBE? It might be 8 weeks! Cancel your Honda order and get 2 rears from FortNine! Now!
Tell Honda you can get it in about 10 days. The new teenagers working there will understand. You don't have to be loyal to them. They have to be loyal to you.

$130 for a genuine Honda belt that lasts 16k km seems reasonable enough.

Very admirable moral standpoint, but you don't have a contract with the dealer, they have already broken it by not supplying the tyres.

The kids don't matter, they change them often. The owner I do care about. He has done me more than a few favours. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars to keep him in business.E. Foster Salsbury wrote:You crazy? Oh wait don't......

The next closest dealer is Holeshot and they are 57 kilometers extra (109 km from home). It is also an extra hour both ways. And a substantially dangerous ride. They also are not any better because they both use the same suppliers.
So I have two rear tires coming, one will go into storage for next time.

Re: Are Forza 300 parts hard to get?
Actually it is a verbal contract because I am allowed to order parts and not pay until I get them. Most other people have to pay first and then they will order the parts. They were having too many people not pay for the parts. Inventory costs the dealer money, especially for a very small dealership.you you wrote:Clue is in the sentence. Its a request not a contract. Nickel and diming small dealers puts them out of business. We have very few to begin with.

Re: Are Forza 300 parts hard to get?
I tend to agree with you. It was very stupid of me not to order tires in March. I thought my Michelin Power Pure scooter tire would last longer, I have 11,000 km on it now.you you wrote:davenowherejones wrote:you you wrote:I am getting tired of waiting for my dealer to get me a tire. The Power Pure is a nice tire but I think the City Grip is a longer lasting tire and is better in the rain & snow.
Too many concussions, the future planning does not work so well anymore nor does the memory.
Why did I go in the house, what am I looking for? Don't get old.

Re: Are Forza 300 parts hard to get?
I agree that he should stand up to his commitment when he gave the verbal go ahead to order the tires . I am assuming the dealer paid for the tires from his account and he may not be able to cancel the order . I would however talk to the dealer and tell him of the situation and see if he could cancel the order and refund him the money. The other alternative would be not to pay the dealer , the dealer would get stuck with a tire that he otherwise would never sell based on the odd size and make an enemy and ruin a good relationship with the dealer who most likely will be doing all his scooter work in the future.

Re: Are Forza 300 parts hard to get?
I would think that a simple phone call to the dealer, asking him for a firm delivery date and explain your problem. If he can't confirm a date ask him to cancel the order, and look elsewhere. It would be a really strange arrangement if the dealer had paid the tyre supplier before he took delivery of the goods.

I always had to pay in advance of shipment of parts.

As a dealer? In advance? Normal terms are usually something like invoiced in the month after and then 30 days to pay.
Price from the dealer is ridiculous too. I think Chief would say "know when the urine is being extracted"
