Looks like his hosting plan expired. I wonder if something happened to him, or if he just has been too busy travelling...

Re: Round the World on a PCX
Did he enter Iran? Last thing I heard he was taking a break from being as far as Turkey by flying back to UK for a while. We were trying to talk him out of going into Iran or Afghanistan.duive01 wrote:does anyone know where andrew is?

Re: Round the World on a PCX
Pretty sure he still on the trip as I checked website a few weeks back and he talked about being watched in Iran I think....something like that anyway

Re: Round the World on a PCX
A quick search and look who i find alive and well and yes he is in Iran

He has posted this as his status yesterday
So, Paypal reverse the money sent to godaddy, who then take my site offline. Paypal has now gone restricted so I can't use it. Godaddy can't use any cards because I'm in Iran. This s**t makes me mad!

Re: Round the World on a PCX
All fine from Iran. The scooter needs a new variator belt, hopefully it'll get through India (I haven't checked if PCX parts are available there).

Wow, awesome picture.
I'd like some details on your mounts for the panniers and some close-up shots of your luggage setup whenever you get a chance.

I'm amazed you didn't get water in your CVT or airbox, but then again, the PCX is durable enough it might not have mattered!

The pictures on your site are amazing. They make me want to get out there and go adventuring.

Re: Round the World on a PCX
I can sympathize with your laurie issues. the rev limiter process is truly ignorant. It puts the rider in a position of constantly checking speed and taking your eyes of the road frequently. Here in the states, 65mph is just too slow and in many instances you have people on your ass. I hope that a (good) variator or some other technology will come along and allow me to get to at least 70 mph. that would be very helpful.
Re: Round the World on a PCX
If you have the 125 as well as CVT modifications, you will also need about 30% more power.Spleege wrote:I hope that a (good) variator or some other technology will come along and allow me to get to at least 70 mph. that would be very helpful.
Here goes my familiar old record...
My position is that if you want to go significantly faster, get a bigger engined scooter, at least a 250.
But if you enjoy tinkering and fannying around in your shed/garage, let us know how you get on.
Despite everything, I'm still keen to learn how a PCX can be made to do 80mph and look forward to seeing properly documented information re same.

I just need to brake a little
Re: Round the World on a PCX
IMO, if the top speed of the PCX isn't fast enough, you're either riding it on the wrong roads or you simply bought too small of a scooter for your needs. I have yet to ride my PCX wide open to try and keep up with traffic or to just stay out of everyones way... in fact, I am usually passing everyone else. The fastest I've had to cruise at would be about 50 mph, that more than kept me up with the flow of traffic. Of course, there are some roads where people do drive 60+ mph (such as 2-lane country roads), but I avoid them... I stay on smaller roads in the city with speed limites in the 35-45 mph range (which covers just about the majority of all of the roads around here save for the expressway and interstate). If the speed limit is 45, you can bet that the flow of traffic will be between 50-55... which is fine for my PCX. If I lived in an area where the majority of the surrounding roads were 55-60+, I would have bought a larger cc bike. 200-400 cc range just about covers it all.

Re: Round the World on a PCX
I'm in India and my variator belt is making loud noise. It'll snap very soon. Honda Thailand are posting one. Fingers crossed!
Scooter will do 67mph tops with an aftermarket variator and a mich tyre with a smaller diameter. That's your wack but expect 62mph normally.
