Re: Forza 125 replacement battery
Hi Rollmops
Has your battery died? Mine died as a result of the harness issue, however my local Honda dealer fitted a new battery foc before I had the replacement harness replaced, however they did recommend a battery charger/ maintainer which I duly purchased ( Oxford maximiser 3000 I think) bit expensive at £70 but well worth it, every time I put the bike in the garage it goes on charge.
If you've not had the replacement harness I'd book it in as its free of charge but might take a couple of days to fit.
Regards
Drew

Re: Forza 125 replacement battery
My Battery is still OK, sort of.It does take a few more turns to start, but then after over2 years no surprise. It will be getting colder soon and my bike is parked in the street.Charging the battery all the time is not really an option.V8vor wrote:Hi Rollmops

I get a new Battery and keep the old one charged as a backup.
My harness has been replaced,so no issues there.
Re: Forza 125 replacement battery
According to this its a Yuasa YTZ8V
According to this chart the YTX7L-BS battery is a very close match and should do the job.
Battery2u list the YTX7L-BS as the one for the job and it can be had for much cheapness elsewhere.
The one aspect the cheaper YTX7L-BS battery doesn't match is the CCA (cold crank amps) rating, however that's only likely to be a problem in extreme cold when you probably won't be using the scooter anyway.

Re: Forza 125 replacement battery
DO NOT let your battery run down! We have this issue on the Honda Fury, where the battery and charging system are "undersized" from Hong just to get them to fit. The starter draws a constant amount of power, like any electronic motor, so the less voltage supplied the more current (which is why you're not supposed to run an air compressair at the end of an extension cord). The higher current draw heats up the starter windings and brakes down the insulation, resulting in a weaker starter that draws more current, until the starter needs to be replaced. Fury owners have such an issue that those unable/unwilling to use a top-end battery maintainer are buying lithium batteries--if you think glass-mat batteries are expensive, try those!
Anyway, for low prices head to the tractor supply store. Lead-based batteries should be around $30, AGM almost twice that price, and lithium around 5x the AGM price. Each commands the price for a reason, BatteryUniversity.com lays out the differences.
I think, "buy quality, buy once, have few problems, lower Total Cost of Ownership." Yes, I've had to give up that extra pint at the pub on occasion, but I always make it to work without issue thanks to not being pissed (drunk) and having a vehicle that runs like a top (runs well) (so no lost income).
I found a top-end battery maintainer (BatterMinder) and AGM batteries in the bikes works great. Not inexpensive, but lower TCO than other methods, keeping th' most coin in me pockets. Now that's kind of a spendy date, so I built meself a power distribution center with fuses (that illuminate when blown) and such, SAE connectors, the works, but one can buy a 4 or 6 connector Y-harness and simply rely on the fuse on the machine. (I pull batteries out of some vehicles so did it differently).
Whatever works best for your situation... PM me if you have questions, always happy to lend a hand.

Re: Forza 125 replacement battery
I can’t stand battery problems, so mine is replaced every two years whether it needs or not. They’re cheap here in the US.The old battery comes out , and goes on my bench as a 12V source for projects.…

Re: Forza 125 replacement battery
8 years on shorai lithium battery. Never had to charge it. It just lasts forever it seems. Was exy to buy like 200 vs 80-100 for original type but after all these years it's still going. I'm sure it paid it self off many times now.
