Where to get tires mounted?
I know, I know... the Honda place, right? Apparently not if you didn't buy the tire from them. (shrug) Honda wouldn't order the City Grips for me (since it wasn't standard size), so although I never got to that part when I took it in, I'm sure that would have just been another wrinkle with them doing the work. I have two in the area and they both said that they "can't" because they've done it in the past and they had too many complaints from the owners about the tire (or the service?) afterward. When i asked where i could get it done, they suggested neighbors. Really? Um, thanks?
Anyway, assuming this is just some weird area thing at the moment, do you have any suggestions on where i can get a rear scooter tire (that's off the bike) replaced if I bring in the replacement tire?

Re: Where to get tires mounted?
I am going to try to mount my next rear CityGrip with tire spoons. I have one sitting in the garage. I use Ride-On tire sealant for a balancer.
I have had good success with the CityGrips. They even work in the country. Yesterday I did 130 km on gravel roads. I went from Hope, BC, Canada down the Skagit Valley to Ross Lake. I even went across the USA border for about 5 minutes without telling anyone. I got stuck in deep sand for a few seconds. I am going to wash the Forza and check for broken parts. I am not going there again.
Try some of the other dealers? I had a local guy with a professional tire machine in his back yard. I think he was a schizophrenic ex-Viet Nam veteran in Canada who forgot to take his meds which resulted in him having a fight with a customer. The customer in self defence put him in the hospital for a few weeks.

What exactly is a local tyre fitter?you you wrote:A local tyre fitters?
In the Vancouver area we do not have any that work on scooters.
Are there places in other cities that just do motorcycle tires?

That's how I did it with a friend. There are plenty of youtube videos that will guide you through. It's a bit hard the first time, but all you need is muscle.you you wrote:Non whatsoever and no non dealer motorcycle shops at all? My local motorcycle repair shop will replace a tire no problem. I have at least four options here in the bay area.

Very few and those either specialize in Harley's or dirt bikes. The few I have asked have refused to work on scooter tires, too small for their equipment.you you wrote:Non whatsoever and no non dealer motorcycle shops at all? Easy to do yourself.. use rim protectors like uu said and all will be honky dory. Easier without rim protectors but depends if you are anal about some scratches on the edge of the rim.

Re: Where to get tires mounted?
I like the youtube video of a guy asking How to tell if you bought the right ADV motorcycle? He walks up to his KLR and kicks it over. I wonder how many BMW guys could do that to their motorcycle.
I could not do it to my Forza because it would be expensive to fix the broken plastics but I am not anal about scratches.
That being said I am going to wash my Forza to find out if I broke any parts yesterday. The only good reason to wash a motorcycle!

Dave, BMW bikes haven't had kickstarters for many years. They don't need them.
