why the stock LED PCX is slower...
Somebody posted this on my youtube channel. Not sure what the part numbers will show me yet but I do understand this person knows why the LED PCX is slower than the Pre-LED. This is why people, and swapping out these parts if doable would bring a new PCX back up to speed. I'm really curious where these install and what they look like. (final drive or somewhere else) Plus how much skill level will it take to do this.
change GEAR, COUNTER (54T)
23422-K36-J00 on GEAR, COUNTER (53T)
23422-KWN-900, and speed increase.

The replacement of that gear is easy. No press required, it basically just falls off. Interesting find, by the way.
It's number 3 in the diagram.

If it wasn't for this wild and crazy hurricane footage I would be all over this. I gave a shout out to the poster on YT for more information but i suspect some language barriers. Let's find the gear, I will buy one and swap it out in my 2015 and set new speed recordGil wrote:The replacement of that gear is easy. No press required, it basically just falls off. #7 23422-K36-J00 GEAR, COUNTER(54T)
Gil don't wear his classes either... so I wonder what else one would need? Which one is in the 2013 PCX the 53 tooth or 54? confuse. My parts catalog was published in 2014 so that's no help. I suspect the 53 tooth gear is the faster PCX right?

For interest, why do we believe Honda made this change to decrease performance?

The lower the tooth count the higher the top speed. There is also a Kitaco High Gear kit with a 51 tooth gear.homie wrote:That's it youyou

Iceman, it benefits acceleration. Maybe it benefited fuel economy somehow.

My money is on the race for best fuel economy award. This has choked the little bike to death so I'm always a believer in unleashing the real machine without any disrespect toward those who worry about hurting the motor... I don't subscribe. Honda is hurting the motor IMOiceman wrote:For interest, why do we believe Honda made this change to decrease performance?

Re: why the stock LED PCX is slower...
If this will further slow down the acceleration of my chicken chaser, then no thanks.
But with some vario mods, this might result in both top end and acceleration gains.
I'll just wait for Homie's results, LOL..

By my calculation with the gear from a 2013 and my vario kit i'm going to have to paint some flames and put a wheelie baralx123 wrote:If this will further slow down the acceleration of my chicken chaser, then no thanks.

Don't post it in the performance section, I'm banned and won't be able to take the piss.

Re: why the stock LED PCX is slower...
In fact, this (the 2013 PCX 150 setup as 44/13;53/17) is the tallest gearing (1,8% taller than 44/13;54/17 from the led version) attainable with easy to find Honda OEM parts.
The only longer factory option would be to use a 18T input shaft from a Honda Vario (only aval in Asia) - however the input shaft gear can be only changed in pair with the counter shaft.
The part numbers if anyone interested:
OEM Vario 150 GEAR, COUNTER(53T) 23422-K59-A10
OEM Vario 150 SHAFT, DRIVE(18T) 23411-K59-A10
