I'm tempted to hide an old iPhone in the battery compartment and wire it to the battery do I can track it if it's ever stolen.

I find gadgets like this frustrating since I'm off and on the bike all day - and I know from the lock-picking channels that I follow on YouTube (a hobby of mine) that these types of locks are generally trivial to pick.

I have a grip lock. It suits my needs. But if I had to use it on and off the way you do Mav, I'd try to find another way.

I use a grip lock, in addition to a cable lock. It's all about slowing people down, I know they can saw through this and they can saw through that, but my whole idea is I just want to slow them down to where they'll choose something else to steal. Just like Wheel locks on a car. They're easy to circumvent, but the meth heads will leave it alone.

It's all about slowing people down, I know they can ssaw through this and they can saw through that ,but my whole idea is I just want to slow them down to where they'll choose something else to steal. Just like Wheel locks on a car. They're easy to circumvent, but the meth heads will leave it alone.

It probably comes down to thief skills - good lock pickers get into locks like those in not much more time than it takes to use the key (believe it or not, some locks are so bad they can LITERALLY be compromised FASTER than using a key).

Guess we're quite lucky here in New Zealand - I don't even use the built-in handlebar lock most of the time (once I even went for a walk around our airfield for an hour or so and left the keys in the ignition - was still there when I got back).

For me it's just a risk management exercise - but the bottom like is that in the unlikely event my PCX is stolen then insurance would pay out apart from a $300 deductible. Had an $8125 rolex stolen once - insurance co had a $12,450 replacement on my wrist within 60 hours, which I thought was pretty impressive.

I'm also using it(the fake one, lol). Might only take them a few seconds to cut the brake lever, but I'll take a few seconds delay than nothing.

Also, trying to cut the lever will trigger the scoot's alarm, so it's actually just one more thing they need to work for before they can steal the scoot.

With hundred other pcx on the parking here, they'll probably gonna choose the easiest one to steal, and that won't be my PCx with a fake GRIP LOCK.

I'd love to see more sting operations set up - start catching these "warts on the arse of society" - and giving them a bit of "time out" to contemplate the "error of their ways". Either that or fit an ejector mechanism under the seat ...

It's a good hobby to have!!
There's been more than a few times I have used lock picking to help people out.
The coke can method of opening locks is what peaked my interest.
Hey Maverick, have you made a bump key, yet?
Definitely worth making and learning how to use.
