New CTX700 DCT ABS - excited
Who's got one here? Do you like it ? Keeping the pcx, needed something for cross state rides....
Bought a 16 - Honda giving 2.9 pct money and cash in the trunk so I sprung for it. Immediately ordered the high windshield for it from revzilla, pics next week !

Re: New CTX700 DCT ABS - excited
I have to say Glen, I'm so Excited and Happy for You!
I get it!
I liked that bike the day it hit Honda's showroom floor! Infact my butt went from the PCX '15 saddle to the CTX700 saddle, over and over again. Oh it was a hard choice to make. If I'd had the cash then I would've bought both.
Now....YOU'VE DONE IT! Holy Smoker's!!!
Spill the beans!! Or must we wait for zee photo?
I'll still ask......
What color? Red or Blue?
Red jumps out but That Blue is really Sweet!
If ya don't mind...How much out the door?
Did you opt for any other additions besides the screen?
Like the full front fairing, hard cases, etc.?
I'm sooo Stoked!!

Re: New CTX700 DCT ABS - excited
Thanks....Price was in the mid sevens about 8 w/ tax - getting a PUIG windshield, but not certain i’ll Like it. The Honda bags are soooo nice but made of gold at about $ 750 after brackets, so for now I’ll use a kriega 30 dry pack on the rear end. No real mods planned except a fobobike tire sensor set. The dealer did not have one in stock but I rode one month ago and like the forward Peg seating, in addition to a seat height it’s over 1 inch lower than my PCX! Amazing… It’s a 2016 blue, I should have it Tuesday. Thursday will be the break in of 230 miles to Sarasota from Fort Lauderdale. Then my next trip is to try and make it to Key West to survey some damage for some people, and see a good friend that helps me run my marine forum that lost his roof. Also bought a new air mesh jacket from Joe Rocket called the “VFR jacket” with Honda’s trademark across the chest, looks nice.

Pics? Does it feel very heavy compared to the PCX? Easy to move around in a garage or get on or off a center stand? Yours has the manual and auto choice transmission right? Any idea what it weighs? Inquiring minds need to know.

Curb weight 234 kg / 516 lbs according to what I found online. PCX in contrast is 126 kg / 278 lbs. So about 108kg heavier.PCX150Rider wrote:Pics? Does it feel very heavy compared to the PCX? I like the look of the new Fireblade specs better though ... 55% heavier than the PCX but 1370% more power

I don’t have the bike yet. It’s a very slow seller for Honda, therefore most of the dealers don’t really carry any in stock. at least the largest dealer in South Florida didn’t have one. So it’s being shipped in from the Honda Jacksonville warehouse to arrive Monday, that’s OK, I like getting one fresh out of the crate vs one of that been on the floor for months.

Re: New CTX700 DCT ABS - excited
It still is no PCX when it comes to around town riding. Everybody at the CTX site was saying that because of the low center gravity it has amazing handling, and that it does. It is very maneuverable. But when running around the neighborhood, short hops and Such, this bike does not do it. However it’s rocksolid at 70 miles an hour which is what I wanted it for. Different tools for different jobs. I am fortunate to be able to afford both.

T'is true. . .gotta have the right tool for the job. Glad your new CTX700 DCT is a blast!
Holding steady at 70 is a plus but even at that speed you may find yourself having to go faster just to keep up with the flow of insane traffic pushing 80 MPH. Nice to have that extra power just in case right?

To some drivers 80 MPhil is still not fast enough. Case in point, look on most freeways and there will be at least one vehicle moving so fast above the speed limit that they dissappear into the distance within minutes of passing you. When we go on a freeway on our pcx we just have to stay in the slow lane and enjoy the ride. No use even considering going any faster.

These two seem to think they have the solution for that ... (starts at about 1:30)Mel46 wrote:To some drivers 80 MPhil is still not fast enough. Wow. . .intense. The "riding on the shoulder" footage is incredible. Good thing some kid didn't toss an empty fizzy drink cup out the window. These two seem to think they have the solution for that ... (starts at about 1:30)

Best of luck with your new baby.. Great looking bike.. For me however I would not be crazy about the hump right in front of me and the limited leg room.Too much like a crotch rocket .. But that I guess is a matter of getting used to.. To each is own , but should be a blast to ride!

Actually nothing like a crotch rocket… Pegs are far forward, so your legs stretch out. It’s a cruiser position...Feels great on long runs....

Re: New CTX700 DCT ABS - excited
Maverick, all I can say about that video is Holy Crap, are those guys nuts!? At 186 mph and on the shoulder of the road as you pass everyone, anything can happen! I have been behind several semi trucks that have blown a tire while on the road. I have also been behind drivers when their car quit and they had to move over to the shoulder in a hurry. Those riders did not take into account why there is a shoulder on the road. In fact, who rides a motorcycle on the shoulder of the road without thinking about loose gravel?
