2017 PCX 150 Windshield Windscreen What do you use in U.S.?
I just picked up a new 2017 PCX 150, in Pennsylvania. I've been finding very mixed reviews on windscreens. Most of them are negative, and some say that living with the OEM design, as annoying as it is, is best. Also, I'm not seeing the "tall" windscreens on the distributor's websites for the 2017 PCX.
So, for you 2017 owners, what do you use, where did you buy it from, and what are your opinions?

Congrats on your new PCX! I have a 2017 also.
Didn't have any urge to put a windscreen on mine. If I did though I think I'd get one from National Cycle. Others on this forum also praise the Givi products. Here's a National Cycle link. Note that some of their windshields for the PCX are out of stock but if you're interested in one of their products you can always contact them. The Extra Tall Touring is the one I like. . .but I'm comfortable with the stock OEM Honda windscreen at this time.

I read many reports of people not liking the standard screen - and when I first got my bike I was quite aware of the buffeting at top speed. Having said that though - 34,000km later I don't even really notice it - completely used to it - inc some days where I'll ride over 300km. In my mind a wee bit of buffeting is just part and parcel of riding a motorbike.
For 3 seasons all I wear is a puffer jacket over a tee shirt.

Thanks for the replies. I cruised up to a local motorcycle shop, just after posting this, and picked up a real helmet that blocks all of the air from my face. I think I'll be just fine now. I've been riding a Ruckus for the past couple years with a half helmet, but now that I'm going far over the Ruckus' 45mph limit, I needed something to block the bugs and keep the noise down.
This new PCX is a blast!

Great news. Yep - a full helmet definitely helps at open-road speeds.djc430 wrote:Thanks for the replies. I especially like using my FF helmets when the bugs are out. Going by marsh areas along the shoreline the gnats can be quite numerous at times and they hit my face shield like sleet. It's always better to wear a FF helmet but there are occasions when I'll wear my open face for short hops. During winter a FF helmet is a must.

Wow. . .just saw the pic. . .I totally get that!I concur!
Every once in a while a "no see um" will sneek into the helmet through one of the vents.

Lately it's been fun here dodging low flying Monarch Butterflies as well.

Yep - at certain times of year I think they like to hover over the road where it's a bit warmer. That photo came from an approx 175km run in the evening.PCX150Rider wrote:Wow. . .just saw the pic. . .I totally get that!I concur!

Re: 2017 PCX 150 Windshield Windscreen What do you use in U.
I installed the National Cycle Touring shield a few days ago. It comes up to the chin, and I kind of wished I bought the Tall version even though I'm only 5'6". It blocks some hand wind, which I welcome. The helmet noise is a bit louder, but if you ride with a tuck and right up to the windshield (which you shouldn't), it becomes completely silent - you'll only hear the engine.
I heard that if you park the scooter at a certain angle from the sun the windshield acts like a magnifying glass and can melt your dash. It doesn't seem that common so I'm not worried about it just yet.

Re: 2017 PCX 150 Windshield Windscreen What do you use in U.
I'm up in the Pacific Northwest and just installed a Fabbri 3140/EX for the colder weather. It's a tall screen, I'm 6'3" and it comes up to my chin. Puts the air flow into your face but it keeps it off your body, which during colder weather is what I wanted. I wear a full face helmet so it's not as much a problem. I think if you are 5'10" or less you'd probably avoid the wind altogether with this windscreen.
I also like the handlebar deflectors, keeps my hands warmer too. Easy to install & remove, I plan to switch between this and the stock screen during the summer. So far so good, I'd recommend.

Re: 2017 PCX 150 Windshield Windscreen What do you use in U.
Great screen! I had a Fabbri on a heavier scoot back in the day and I loved it! Did you find a vendor in the States? Please, Do tell. Where?
You mentioned installing the "tall" version, can a short and medium screen be purchased?
Website to share?
Having the added hand protection is a definite plus (the cold is killer to my gloved hands).
A big gripe I have with any screen on lightweight scoots, is the drifting whilst riding. The resistance, the push, the swaying....how do I convey this? I know other riders with screens have experienced this too. It can be a bit unnerving. I don't want to battle the ride.
So I ride with the stock screen. Not the safest approach but it's most comfortable for me. But! Not so in colder weather. But but but....I'll ride only as low as 40 degrees F anywho.
So I continue to toss around installing one again. Crazy me. I had a medium Givi upon owning this PCX then quickly sold it. Stock all the way since. Overall I like the Fabbri, Ermax, and National, but have only Givi and Fabbri experience. Time to flip a coin!
Do enjoy the comfort of having your Fabbri. May you be a safer and warmer rider
Cheers!

Re: 2017 PCX 150 Windshield Windscreen What do you use in U.
I'm using the National Cycle VStream Tall Touring Windscreen (part no. 50003). I installed it a couple weeks ago and has been much nicer riding to work on these cooler mornings. The hand deflectors help but could be a bit wider. I am 5'10" and the top of the screen is just under eye level. I wear a full face helmet so I don't really notice the wind hitting me in the face. I don't have experience with the other windscreens mentioned, but I am happy with the National Cycle.

If wind is hitting you in the face, this will rectify that and send it over your head. I have one, it works.....

Re: 2017 PCX 150 Windshield Windscreen What do you use in U.
Thanks! I got it on ebay.it (only place I could find it) I'm surprised there are no U.S. vendors, it's a good screen.WhiteNoise wrote:Great screen! I had a Fabbri on a heavier scoot back in the day and I loved it! Did you find a vendor in the States? Please, Do tell. Where?
WhiteNoise wrote:You mentioned installing the "tall" version, can a short and medium screen be purchased?
The installation brochure shows a picture of a shorter Fabbri screen called "3143/LD SUMMER" - I think it looks pretty good, just slightly taller than stock and shorter than the short Givi. I bet there are vendors on ebay.it selling it.
The tall Fabbri's screen definitely helps with the cold on the hands, I can feel a bit of difference. Now I notice how much colder my feet get.

I'm debating installing Oxford grips now that my hands aren't even the coldest part anymore.
I know exactly what you mean. Combine that with the much louder noise, it's less fun to ride with the tall windscreen. But it's the only way I'm going to ride when the temp drops under 55F. I'm going to switch back to stock screen as soon as possible in the Spring. But it's a quality product.WhiteNoise wrote:A big gripe I have with any screen on lightweight scoots, is the drifting whilst riding. The resistance, the push, the swaying....how do I convey this? Thanks for the kind words, I do enjoy it and look forward to some winter riding with it.
