Change a steerer stem 2016MY ...

anybody done it?

I had a little altercation with a muntjac deer and ended up in a ditch .

broke the front mudguard (fender) both mirrors off and bent a fork leg.
replaced the Fork leg, mudguard and mirrors... easy enough.
The bike still doesn't steer true - so I suspect the steerer has a slight twist / kink

Any ideas on swopping it out?
steps to take / body panels off? or can it be done quite easily?

If you are going to do the work yourself it is imperative that you get a service manual for that year. Mine is for a 2013 so there might be changes. Perhaps one of our other members has that chapter that they can email to you??

Sorry to here about your misfortune. I have previously seen tutorials on the web for headset bearing adjustment (i have no links to hand at the moment, but i will do a search when i get home from work). This would point you to the method for panel removal etc. My concern would be that the bike frame itself is out of alignment where the steerer tube is welded to the frame, following the crash. Without stripping the bike and putting the frame on some sort of jig, this could be difficult to check. One tell tale sign that it is damaged could be that paint has cracked at the weld. I hope it is just the fork steerer tube as these are easily purchased. Wish you all the best with it
